Announcement   Hola! i have moved to Mexico to retire, and have launched a series of carpetbags from my new home of San Miguel de Allende! See 4 of them here, in ON THE SHELF, and 6 on my Nomadic Bags page, listed as CURRENT STOCK. All bags not listed as such are already SOLD, sorry.

Each KITA bag is a unique, handmade, collectible piece of wearable art.
When you hold one in your hands, you will fall in love.

a KITA bag marries vintage textiles from every corner of the planet with upcycled castoffs, to create a travel companion for your every road.

KITA bags are organic and authentic and one of a kind.
the vintage handwork comes from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Bali, Japan, Bhutan, Borneo, Malaysia, Turkey, Israel, Australia, Hawaii, and the US.

most materials used in a KITA are handmade and vintage, or upcycled and repurposed. new upholstery thread and Gutermann top-stitching threads are used to quilt
old things to sturdier upcycled things.
structural seams and straps are bound by hand.
there are no zippers or velcro, to break or snag.

KITA bags are made the old fashioned way:
machine stitched on a 1962 metal-body beast,
hand stitched with a curved needle and pliers.

You will find amazing bags here,
But I make them for pleasure, with no pressure,
So you may have to wait for the next batch to be born...

Just remember, your KITA bag is in it for the long haul,
And worth waiting for...

The bag is beautiful. Wonderful quality craftsmanship. Krisha was great to work with and seemed to know exactly what I wanted. You definitely stand out from the crowd with one of these lovely bags. Just have to love the "story" of the fabric. Definitely will be back. Thanks!

I have a relationship with my river pack. I waited awhile for this one, patiently, on The List. And it was beyond worth it for this is so beautiful and sturdy made that it will last my entire life and likely beyond. I love it. It was custom made for me by Krisha with every detail exceeding my hopes and expectations. These are worth every penney. They are high quality hand sewn workmanship starting with tribal textile relics. Amazing. This was a real treat for myself. I have not found anyone else who makes these like Krisha does...Anywhere, and I have searched like a true Nomad.

About

Art feeds the soul...

I have always loved and collected textiles, not out of any deep knowledge of them, but because of their touch and smell and sensory attributes...

gradually I began to see their cultural connection,
and honor them for that reason as well.

I taught myself to sew, and began to create my Nomadic Bag line, sold here on etsy. Later I developed KITAbags as a home for my more elaborate creations...

To me, the greatest honor I can pay an amazing textile,
is to reimagine and remake it into a bag for a human
to cherish and use, day to day, lovingly...

Namaste.

aloha and welcome...

i have been working in the Etsy community for 5 years making my NOMADIC BAGS,
And the 3 years with my KITAbags.

if you have any questions about buying or owning a KITA bag,
i can hook you up with happy owners all over the world.
they will vouch for the workmanship of my product.
the addition of the KITA bag line is my opportunity to make each bag as spectacular as i know it can be, without regard for the time i invest in it.

it also realistically addresses the huge increase in textile costs,
as i strive to acquire increasingly scarce authentic, vintage, hand made pieces to use in my work.

remember,
every KITA is a collectible piece of wearable art.
when you hold one in your hands, you will fall in love.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
if you wish to purchase a ready-made bag you see listed here,
And it says it is ON THE SHELF, then i accept Paypal, e-checks and money orders.

IF THE BAG IS NOT COMPLETE, with strap and bling,
Please ask me to RESERVE it, while we agree to how it will be finished off.

i will then post a listing allowing you to send a DEPOSIT for half the price listed.
the BALANCE will be due once it is completed, JUST BEFORE IT IS SHIPPED.

The CUSTOM COLLECTION are previously made and SOLD bags.
I am no longer doing custom bags, per se, but we can use them to draw ideas from, as we custom complete your bag!
Shipping
i have moved to central Mexico, and am not willing to ship even via DHL or FEDEX for safety. For now, I will hand carry the bags to my family in Texas, And ship them from there, every few months.

SO PLEASE ASK FOR A QUOTE BEFORE PURCHASE!
And we can discuss my next shipping window.

i ship everywhere. just convo me for a quote,
and i will change the listing to allow you to purchase to your heart's content.
Refunds and Exchanges
i am a humanist, so it's all good. should the bag you buy not meet your expectations, and it has not been used, you may return it for a full refund. you will need to pay the return postage, tho. hey, it's never happened before, so no worries...
