Announcement    Like so many artists, I love making things far more than marketing and business. Although I have been making mosaics for many years, I have not been active in posting my mosaics for sale. The COVID 19 Lock down has provided me with some extra time to put this store together. I now feel ready to offer some of my creations to all of you and am excited to find homes for my artwork. Handmade Mosaics, Beaded Mosaics, Ornaments and other Unique Works of Art are currently offered. I will be adding work regularly, so please check back. If you are interested in jewelry or jewelry related items, please check out what I have to offer in my other etsy store. https://www.etsy.com/shop/KJArtworks

Thank you for stopping by!

Best Wishes, Karen

KJ Artworks - Karen J Lauseng Mosaic Art (Sculpture, ornaments and Wall Hangings)

Silver City, New Mexico is a wonderful place to live and work. Making art is my passion and there is no better place for creative inspiration than Southwest New Mexico.

I am so pleased to have been able to share my mosaic art, jewelry designs and tutorials in numerous Lark Crafts book publications as well as Art Jewelry, Lapidary Journal /Jewelry Artist, Metalsmith, Rock And Gem, Art Doll Quarterly, The Craft's Report, Creative Home Arts and South Dakota magazines.

Each piece offered for sale is uniquely original, with its own design and energy and created with loving, peaceful energy in my studio in Silver City. All of the art offered is one of a kind. If any components used are found objects, vintage jewelry, or garage sale finds, I will note that in the description.

I was once asked to duplicate a bracelet for a friend of a customer and reluctantly agreed to do so. I was told they were very close friends and wanted to have identical bracelets. On the first attempt, the bracelet I tried to make was impossible to complete and I ended up burning a hole through it. The second bracelet turned out perfect, however, when it arrived at the Albuquerque Museum, the sales associate called and asked why I had sent a large drawer pull? After further investigation we discovered that the package had been run over by the mail truck. Needles to say, I did not attempt to make another and although the client was disappointed, I am certain her friend was pleased beyond words.

I like to challenge my creativity and am always in the studio making something. Owls have caught my attention most recently and they are insistent on being made as mosaic art either with glass and tile or from polymer clay and found objects. You never know what might come up next, as I am always open to trying something new.

Currently my mosaic work is available through The Grant County Art Guild Gallery in Silver City, NM and this outlet.

I have developed and tolerated a wild, crazy spectrum of ideas. I love working in all kinds of media and any given day you can find me in the studio creating. Mosaic art, art dolls, sculpture, books, masks, and jewelry are my current interests.
