For the Love of Color and Creation

I was recently reminded by my father about our trip to Kenya in my early teens. I spent weeks before the trip making beaded and macrame jewelry to bring with me in hopes that I could trade with the people I met and bring home some African treasures. Every village we visited, I would optimistically spread out my creations to show to locals, however, without much success. After all, my skill was amateur, and it was the Masai tribe I was trying to barter with who happen to be masters at the art of beadwork. Nonetheless, they were encouraging and inspired me to continue to be creative. Which brings me to the present, where I am still working with much of the same materials (seed beads, stones and metal), and still enjoying it immensely.

In my world travels I've gathered bits of inspiration from the different cultures and landscapes I've visited, often bringing back hand-selected unique and special materials to weave into my creations. Kenya, Tanzania, India, Japan, Bali, Israel, Costa Rica, & New Mexico are some of the more inspiring destinations I've been fortunate enough to travel to.

This love affair with color and creation is ever evolving as new designs enter my dreams almost nightly. So please come visit again to see where this journey has taken me.

❖ Creation process ❖
Each piece takes anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to complete as I do not take any shortcuts in my work. All designs are uniquely my own. With the exception of a few best sellers, almost all pieces are truly one of a kind, so you can feel special knowing that you are the only person in this universe with the piece you purchase.

❖ About the materials ❖
I make each piece with a lot of love and attention to detail. I use only high quality glass beads as well as semi-precious stones and quality metals. I never use plastic or metal containing Nickel. Many of the beads, especially the stones, have been acquired through different voyages around the globe, mainly in India and Bali. Other materials are sourced from small businesses (many on Etsy!). All beading thread used is hand-waxed before use to ensure longer and sturdier lives of the pieces.

For those with sensitive ears, I am happy to switch out any plated ear wires with either sterling silver, or 14k gold filled ear wires at no extra charge. Please contact me to let me know your preference.

I tend to use a lot of brass, silver, and silver-plated brass components which are subject to tarnishing over time. With exposure to organic elements such as air and moisture, these natural metals will eventually start to lose their luster and tarnish. I find that tarnished metal only adds a dimension of beauty of these pieces, reflecting a well-loved and well-worn piece of your jewelry stash. If the tarnished look doesn't please you, buffing the metal with a metal polishing cloth will restore back its shine.

❖ Care and storage ❖
All of the fringe earrings like to be hung or laid straight and flat in your jewelry collection to ensure that the strands of fringe stay straight. If fringe gets wavy, simply comb and roll through your fingers through the strands to straighten.

Please handle your pieces with care. I've used the strongest threads, wires, and components I can find, but this will only protect the pieces as long as you keep them out of harm's way. They will have longer lives if they don't get wet and if they don't get left in the bottom of your purse to mingle with coins and keys.

❖ Eco-Friendly Packaging ❖
All pieces are packaged in recyclable/reusable jewelry boxes, sealed with ribbon, and are perfectly ready for gifting! The tissue and packaging paper is reused or repurposed material, and the mailer that I use to ship the package is 100% reusable, recyclable, and biodegradable - returning to the earth in a matter of months. And most days I walk to the post office.
By purchasing from my shop, you are supporting eco-conscious practices, limiting our footprint on this precious earth.

Please let me know if your order is intended as a gift, and if you'd like a message written along with the gift in the "note to buyer" section of checkout.

If you have any questions about my methods or materials please feel free to contact me.
