Additional Policies and FAQs
Most of my jewelry is made with sterling silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. Individuals with copper allergies may experience skin discoloration or a reaction.
I work in a smoke-free home. I do have a curious Jack Russell who occasionally watches me create. :) In general, she stays away from supplies and completed designs though.
JEWELRY CARE RECOMMENDATIONS
If you have purchased an item with sterling silver, I suggest storing the piece when not wearing it. Keeping it in the open air will cause it to tarnish quickly, especially if you live in locations with higher levels of humidity. Something as simple as a ziplock bag in your jewelry box can work great. Rubbing a soft 100% cotton cloth over the metal after wearing it can help wipe away body oils or make-up that will create tarnish. If your silver has begun to tarnish, a silver polishing cloth, such as the Sunshine Polishing Cloth, can restore shine.
If you have purchased a chunky or statement necklace, it is best not to hang it for storage. Instead, place the piece flat in your jewelry box. Although I double crimp the very heavy pieces, hanging creates a constant tension on the crimps, links, etc that can weaken them over time.
