About

The therapeutic crocheting

I think it all started back in the cornfields, in small Russian town. My sister and I would take corn cobs, draw faces on it and would play with its silky "hair". We were not poor, we had normal dolls, but somehow they were too ordinary, too simple.

Back in Russia I took music classes, dancing, beading, sewing, drawing. But then I went to college and the "grown-up" life has begun. There were classes, papers, courses, tests and no time for all the things that I really loved.

Then in 2005 I came to USA. In 2007 I married my husband, and in 2010 we got pregnant. I quit my job as office receptionist and plunged into creative self- I draw paintings for the nursery, crocheted and knitted hats, booties, blankets and felt like I have never been happier in my whole life!

In August 2011 our beautiful baby girl came into this world changed our life forever! :)

It wasn't easy, and it was nothing like I have ever imagined. The first three months of our life as a family are such a blur, and sometimes it even feels like it was one long, magical, happy, sad, scary dream.

I loved being a mom, but I was also looking for something that can didn't involve cleaning, cooking, changing, feeding ;)

So one evening I picked up crocheting hook and started making an elephant for my baby, when I was done with it I made a sheep, panda, turtle and summer hat, another hat, and another one! And I can not stop ever since! :) Yes, I can say for sure that crocheting changed my life. It makes me a better person, a better wife and better mom. Whenever I feel anxious, sad or confused,I pick up the hook and it all goes away! It is my meditation, my passion, my THERAPY! My DRUG with only one side effect- I am addicted to it! :)
And I thank God for this journey! I know that I am stronger now,I can move the mountains!:) I still have a long way to go in putting together all the pieces in my head , but I know that every day I am getting one step closer! And I can't wait to see what tomorrow is going to bring! :)
I am so thankful for this opportunity to share my story with others! You can also learn more about my family here:
