Rescuing fabric for a useful life.

I love fabric and have collected it most of my life. The day came to actually do something constructive with my holdings. I needed an apron, so I designed a pattern and made one, and one thing led to another and I became an apron seller at the local farmers' market until I ran through my biggest pieces of fabric. This left me with a lot of small pieces perfect for making potholders. After using all the fabric I had on hand, I've been gathering rescued fabric from yard sales, thrift stores and the holdings of friends and neighbors.

Coming from a long line of women who made useful things and reused materials as a matter of course, this was a natural fit. Working with fabrics from different eras allows for the wonderful opportunity to play with a much broader palette of colors, patterns, and textures, creating a more unexpected yet familiar look than if I were just buying contemporary fabric.

I make things in a way that seems sensible to me in how they look, feel and work. Engaging eye, hand and mind to make something that is distinctive, satisfying and well made. I value hand work, creativity and figuring out sustainable practices.
My hope is you will find the results useful and pleasing.
