After storm this cedar tree fell. It was in AR. Swamps. I got lucky finding this piece.
Rough sanding done! Next sanding process will really reveal the markings I can't wait!

About

INSPIRATION from Nature, Imagination, and Real Life!

Hi! My name is Kari. I am a mother of two, out of this world, beautiful boys! Ages 4 and 2. I have recently found the strength to make a very huge, scary, change in my life! I have learned a lot about myself in the process. I've also started doing what I love again, creating art and working with live edge wood. Making dreams come true and I'm loving every min of it!

Wood! Love it! My 1st wood project was a chair for my son. Loved working with wood so much I kept playing around and making different things, now, 4 years later I have an Etsy shop, website, and customers from all over😄 Every peice of wood has a funny story behind it. It's not easy to find reclaimed wood that is just right for a table and it is not easy to lift wood onto a truck or car. I've rolled wood down streets to my home, I've broken a dolly trying to get a massive cedar slab into my girlfriends car, I could go on and on. The struggle of finding and moving it is worth it every time! I've gotten lucky and have found some absolutely stunning pieces! The lines, the shape, the colors, all amazing! Something about sanding and chainsawing is very therapeutic. Live Edge.... why so valuable? Well it's not only unique but the tree that produces those slabs are much older, most trees for lumber r around 25 years old. Older trees, I find just by pure luck, have fallen from a storm, etc. Finding one that is big and beautiful is harder to do than you would think. Then you gotta transfer that bad boy! ;).... but yes #Live Edge Furniture is one of a kind!

People love these slabs because they like the natural appearance of the live edge, and the interesting/amazing characteristics the wood has. Characteristics are things like knots, cracks, and the shape. Slabs are stunning to look at and easy to get lost in.  Our world today is full of highly engineered and polished artifacts, it’s a relief to see something that has not been transformed beyond recognition by machines.

What is Spalted?
"Spalting is any form of woodcoloration caused by fungi. Although primarily found in dead trees, spalting can also occur in living trees under stress. Although spalting can cause weight loss and strength loss in the wood, the unique coloration and patterns of spalted wood are sought by woodworkers."

Every one of my paintings has a story as Well. My emotions go into my paintings. I love expressing myself through art. Huge stress reliever and very therapeutic aswell.
Creating art and being amazed at Gods Art. Couldn't ask for a better job.
