About

I have combined my love of horses and passion for painting to form abstract equine artwork emphasizing the tender and emotional side of horses.

My name is Kasia Bukowska and I am not only an artist, but also an equestrian. Since I was three years old and had the opportunity to grab the mane of one poor pony at Griffith Park, I have never let go of that dream: to ride horses and be around these amazing, graceful, and powerful animals. I rode as much as I could, took as many lessons as my parents would allow, and competed at as many shows possible.

My horse obsession took me to Poland, where I planned to pursue my career in riding. However, it became difficult for me to do everyday activities and was restricted to my bed for five months.

I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE. Today, I am still working with doctors on getting my flare back into complete remission so I can get back to riding and training.

Like horses, painting is another passion of mine that recently has become very important in my recovery. For nearly two years I wasn't able to ride, or even go to the barn much, and so dearly missed that fresh "horse smell." I filled this void with painting, which was my first step in recovery. I exercised my joints by preparing to paint, painting, and cleaning up. Needless to say, my passion for my equine friends captures their true beauty and translates it into my uniquely beautiful works of art. I paint using many mediums, including acrylics, spray paint, pencil, and pastels. I paint straight from the heart and I believe it shows. Take a look and see for yourself!

My artwork is inspired by my love of horses. Yes, many people paint horses, of course. But, I know that there is something different about my art, something that moves viewers and brings up that childhood fantasy of riding wild horses bareback.

My store is filled with various styles of equine artwork. I mainly use acrylic or spay paint on canvas for my horse paintings, but sometimes dabble into drawings using pencils or pastels. My acrylic paintings are abstract and come from what I feel when I'm painting. I actually don't like planning and drafting my artwork. I just go with the flow of what music I have on in the background! As for my spray painted pieces, a lot of time goes into designing multiple stencils for each image. The result is modern, eye-catching art that grabs attention in any room.
