Creating jewelry for fellow nature lovers
Jewelry has fascinated me ever since I was a little girl rifling through my Nana's many boxes of treasures, waiting with excitement as she unwrapped her special pieces not meant for tiny hands. After a basic metalsmithing class 28 years ago, I began making my own beaded jewelry, eventually selling locally and then online. I found Etsy at the end of a particularly long and debilitating depression, just as my creativity had begun to return and I needed something positive on which to focus. The hard times do still pop up, but making jewelry is terrific therapy and I'm grateful for my progress and every smile that comes my way.
I'm a member of SRAJD, an international organization for raising awareness of jewelry created and sold by the self-representing artist. I create all of my jewelry at home, by hand, according to what speaks to me or has personal meaning - themes of interest, favorite colors, or textures I find beautiful. I'm inspired by the beauty of nature, my love for animals, a connection to my materials and process, and a desire to provide quality work and service. I use a variety of techniques and materials, and have been working with silver Precious Metal Clay for the last 3 years, often making my own molds of antique finds or natural elements collected locally with my husband. You may not find an abundance of items or trends here, but my hope is that you will find something which speaks to you as well.
Precious Metal Clay is made from pure silver particles recovered from scrap jewelry, electronics, x-rays, photographic film, and industrial waste. These particles are mixed with a binder of water and plant-based organic materials to form a malleable clay which becomes .999 fine silver when kiln-fired. Each piece is fired in my home kiln for 2 hours at the optimum temperature for maximum strength.

I live in a tiny village along the Hudson River in the amazing Adirondack Park region of Upstate NY. I make jewelry with the support of my wonderful husband, Chris, and a dedicated staff - our dog, 2 cats, 2 rats, tarantula, and snake.
Lucy carries supplies from the mailbox upstairs to my work room and patiently awaits acceptance of her application to transport finished pieces to the kiln. Her abilities may not meet the requirements, but her dedication and enthusiasm are unmatched.
Eris is responsible for the material which helps make my Fine Silver Snakeskin jewelry. He works very hard to provide quality sheds on a regular basis, and takes great pride in their appearance.
