All items listed one of a kind numbered piece designed by Katherine Harestad, hand made in Arcata, California, prior to 1999. All items are new, not pre-owned, and are part of the designer's personal collection.
I started my line White Rose in 1980 in a corner of my living room with a one year old and a three year old (not recommended!). I designed a custom Victorian wedding gown from cotton voile and antique lace. The underpinning was a combination corset cover and long slip. This Victorian slip was the inspiration for my line, White Rose.
I started selling my handmade collection at craft fairs and eventually sold to local stores in Arcata, a small town nestled in the Redwood region of Northern California.
I obtained an SBA mini loan to from the local economic development corporation to open a studio and small cottage sewing business in Arcata. The line was sold in boutiques in the US and in Europe, the Middle East and Japan.
White Rose is a romantically styled, vintage inspired, collection of designer sleepwear and lingerie in natural fibers. The collection was designed and made in Northern California. This is the last of the collection which is considered vintage because the collection ranges from the 80’s through the 90’s.
Victorian Cotton collections consist of 100% domestic cotton (cotton made in the USA), cotton laces, cotton leavers laces (like an European style hand loomed lace), Details include: pin tucks, ribbon beading, inset laces, venise appliqués.
Silk Charmeuse Collections consist of 100% silk with a sandwashed finish,
Leaver laces, venise trims, many pieces are cut on the bias for a timeless fit. Old Hollywood glamour is the inspiration.
Silk Velvet Collection consists of Silk/rayon velvet with a washed finish for softness and drape. Opulent luxury is the inspiration for theses styles. Details include leaver’s laces, silk charmeuse touches.
