This is my most exciting buy of the year! I got one for myself and my two best girl friends (wife and daughter). Mine is black, my wife's red, my daughter's pink. She can't take hers off and wanted to sleep in it. We wanted to support the Women's March Movement and stand up for social justice and this was a great way to do that since half of the proceeds were going to Planned Parenthood. The hats fit perfectly, are super warm, soft, and comfortable. I love them!!! Thanks so much!

About

Kathy Zola's Textile Designs

My college-aged son took a look at something I was making with some electric-colored variegated yarn, and said, "Oh, Mom, if you made me one of those ear-flap hats with the braided things that hang down from that kind of yarn, that would be so cool!" So I made several, and sent him back to school with them. And they were so much fun and so well received, I just kept making more.

Then I fell into weaving on a rigid heddle loom. And thus started making scarves and shawls as well. And place mats! And I have graduated to a 4-shaft floor loom.

I am something of a yarn snob, so these items are made with mostly natural fibers, several colors, small (US 5 or 6) needles (~6 stitches/inch) and lighter weight yarns. The knit items use techniques like double-knitting and fair-isle patterning.

I design and make all of the items in this store. Each one is unique.

I have had a life-long love for fibers. My mother and grandmother (yes, really!) taught me to knit when I was about 6, and I have never stopped! I focus on color, pattern and texture helped by a background in graphic design.

Borgstein Alpaca Farm is a small family-run alpaca farm in Medfield, MA. They breed and sell pet/fiber and breeding quality huacaya alpacas along with yarn and roving made from their own animals. I use the yarn from their animals in some of my products.

Everything in my shop is a one of a kind item designed and made by me in a pet-free and smoke-free environment.

Scarves, shawls and wraps are hand-woven on a rigid heddle loom. Each one is a unique combination of pattern and color using primarily cotton, linen, rayon, fine merino wool, alpaca and mohair fibers. All are designed and made by me.

Soft and warm, hand-knit caps are knit in the round (no seams). Ear-flap caps feature double-knit flaps, brims and crowns, multi-color bodies, and I-cord trim. Tams or berets feature braided cable bands. The body is knit from the bottom up in a lace pattern and is topped with a knot or bobble. Each one is unique, designed and hand-knit by me.

Felted double-knit mats have many uses around the kitchen and dining room - trivets or pot-holders. They make great house-warming or new kitchen gifts. And table mats hand-woven on a rigid heddle loom in cotton/acrylic/recycled plastic yarns. All objects are designed by me and hand-crafted by me.
