Hi, I'm Catherine & welcome to Katie Rose Sews. We're lucky enough as a family to live in Yorkshire, UK on the edge of the gorgeous great lumpy bits of outdoors a.k.a. the Peak District. We love to visit the lumpy bits in the Lakes, Scotland, & Wales, & our other favourite places generally involve the coastline.

Katie Rose Sews is an online store selling the bags and accessories that I handmake here in our family home. Quality is important to me. I believe that the care and attention taken in the production process, and choosing quality supplies, ensures that the finished product will be durable, as sustainable as possible and look good. There are no cutting corners here.

So, how did the business name, Katie Rose Sews, come about? I was teaching my young daughter to use her very first sewing machine (the exceptionally cute, tiny John Lewis model) around the same time as setting up the business and I was brainstorming the business name with the then 9 year old Caitlin Rose. She was very chuffed with the eventual decision!

So why do I do what I do...? I love happy colours! I love prints! I love texture! They make me smile & we all know that some days it's harder to find your smile than other days. I love playing with gorgeous fabrics & creating an end-product that serves a purpose & looks gorgeous to boot. It's that ta-dah moment...

My products are made from either vegan leather (cork) fabric, cotton fabric, or a combination of the two. Cork fabric is also known as cork leather or vegan leather because it is seen as the animal-friendly alternative to leather. It is a high-quality fabric produced from thin cork shavings obtained directly from the bark of the cork oak tree.

Cork fabric is:

• Hypoallergenic, anti-fungal, waterproof and stain resistant
