Handmade glass beads and jewelry

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 20 Sales On Etsy since 2009

Announcement   All beads are handmade, kiln annealed and cleaned by me in my Florida studio. I then pair them with sterling silver or bead weaving. I strive to create high quality, one of a kind jewelry that feels as good as it looks.

I start with Italian or American made glass, adding furnace glass, fine silver or goldstone for effects and use mostly gravity for shaping. Some beads are pressed, to give a larger surface area for viewing or added decoration. Each bead goes directly into a hot kiln to anneal giving a piece that will (with proper care) last for generations.

Please feel free to contact me by convo with any questions. I do guarantee my work.

Thank you,
Kelley

About

Melting Glass

I love color, abstract art and all things tiny. The first time I melted glass was like an awakening. Then, twirling molten glass around little steel rods became an addiction.

I've been making glass beads since 2009. I love to layer and mix colors for beads with depth and purpose. My favorite bead to make is still the tiny, pure color, gravity shaped spacer, but sometimes I let go and add fine silver, reactive colors, and murrini - tiny slices of patterned glass.

Then, each bead goes into my kiln to cool slowly, so the final bead is as stable as it can be at the molecular level. (Beads that aren't annealed have the annoying tendency to spontaneously break apart.) Once the beads have cooled, I clean the bead release out of each hole with a diamond chip bit.

All my jewelry is made with sterling silver or gold-filled components (clasps, ear wires) unless stated in the item description.

I've been melting glass and making round and sculptured beads since 2009. I also love to weave with seed beads. You'll find seed beading kits here as well as jewelry made with lampworked glass and seed beads. I hope you like what you see!
