Painting teaches me a great deal about observation. When I'm working on a piece, I connect with my subject and notice details about it that I missed before. This helps me to better understand my subjects and further harmonize with the world I live in. I can take from the world around me and make it my own, then turn those things into something that others can look at differently through my work.
I experiment with a broad scale of different styles that I discover within myself. At times my work may not be as easily identified as my own from one series to the next. While I'm learning about my subjects through my creative process, I'm also teaching myself about who I am and how I interpret life itself. I'm forced to ask myself why I'm drawn to certain subjects, especially those that I find come up in my work again and again. Maybe there's a hidden symbolism I'm unaware of that requires further investigation.
I often incorporate found objects in my work. This could mean anything from including what would appear to be ordinary garbage into a piece of art, or painting on a piece of wood or cardboard in place of a canvas. One of the most important qualities I find in my definition of "art" is to make something that wasn't beautiful into something beautiful, or maybe finding the beauty in something and making it more apparent for others to see.
One constant is my palette. It features vivid stimulating colors that pull my subjects into being in a playful manner. I want to create something that is very eye-opening and uplifting to my audience. I find that bright colors can excite the heart and mind and give people a sense of happiness that wouldn't be felt in the absence of those colors.
It is my response-ability to react to my surroundings by dismembering the natural world and then project the abstractions from within. My creations are my actuality's alternative brought to life. Things seep into my brain and out of my imagination.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
I do a little bit of everything. I have been painting since 2007 and have been a part of many shows and displays around Texas. My artwork has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning as well as in international publications- even in Art-o-Mat machines.
I would never want to send anyone something that I wouldn't personally be happy with. I don't send broken, bent, torn, or messy products. If a product or piece of art is sent to you in poor condition, then this is something that has occurred through the mailing process. See my return policy for more information about this matter.
