About

I want to do what I love. Allow me to create something for you that you will love too.

Every toddler is given crayons and a blank piece of paper at some point.  Coming from an artistic family color, designing, and creating were part of the everyday experience thanks to my Grandmother.  Remember that feeling of satisfaction you would get from drawing something better than you ever have before?  (I love that feeling.)

A talented artist herself, my Grandmother (June Pearl) won a full scholarship to F.I.T. , that her father would not allow her to accept, and sent her to Bryant and Stratton to be a secretary. She tells me that in the 50’s women were encouraged to either be nurses, teachers or secretaries, but not artists.  My Grandmother exposed me early on to more medias than the average kid my age. While, everyone else would tell me I was so talented, she would tell me what I needed to work on.  I could always trust her for an honest assessment. She paid for my art lessons every summer through Elementary and Middle School.  She let me know early that talent was a small part of what an artist needs to be successful, hard work with a little risk was key.

That point was driven home when I chose to do a painting that my Grandmother had decided was too demanding for her to take on herself.  She helped me to enter the piece in the Erie County Fair and I won Best of Show and the Directors Award, which had never been awarded to a junior in the 162-year history of the Fair.  I continued to win Best of Show for six years since that time and was awarded the Directors Award again in 2011. (Having won 4 times as a Junior and now twice as an Adult, I feel its time for some new names to be recognized.) Since that first moment, I often look to challenge myself in new ways and jump to do what others avoid.

As a High School Senior, I concentrated on faces in various light and expression as it was originally my plan to major in Animation.  Once I became immersed in all the different facets of art, that the Visual and Creative Arts Program at Sheridan College (Oakville Ontario, Canada) had to offer; I decided their prestigious Illustration program was perfect for me. I have shown and sold my artwork at various Arts & Crafts Events in Western New York and Toronto during the summers, but now that I am fresh off graduation... I am ready to do it full time.

My Grandmother recently passed away from a long illness but she continued to hand out well placed advice to the very end.  Namely,  “Honey, do what you love.”
