Looking for a hand knit pussy hat (or any other sort of hat, really) in pure cotton? Look no further. My husband and I have tall, fat heads--or at least that's what measuring them tells us! Lauren took our measurements into account, and adjusted her standard size to fit us, and we couldn't be happier with them. These are super comfy, lovely gauge, and have drawn considerable interest so far. Unlike acrylics, these feel good from first wear! There are plenty of people on Etsy who knit hats, but these were the first in cotton we've found, and they are raising funds for the NAACP, so really--snap some up yourself! Thanks, Lauren!

Great color and beautifully made. I also appreciate the donation to Planned Parenthood. Thanks!

Super happy with the quality of this hat. Love that it's cotton, and it's a nice gauge. I bought the large, thinking if it fit me, I'd get another for my husband. Unfortunately, it only comes down to the top of our ears. I don't think we have inordinately-large heads; this is simply not long enough to cover ears that want to be outdoors marching. My husband, who likes his head covered more often than not, has taken to wearing it at home, so it will not go unworn! We very much appreciate that Lauren's raising funds for worthy orgs, and hope people vote their values in the same fashion!

NEW in the shop! I've been working on this knit wrist wallet for my admin RFID badge for months and I finally settled on a design I like. It's great for opening doors and turnstiles in the office!
I just posted my first non-pussyhat item for sale! It's a soft chevron-ribbed baby blanket in a lovely speckled beige cotton yarn. A baby near you needs to cuddle with this ASAP!
Rainbows are such a beautiful symbol of love and perseverance. Two varieties of colorful rainbow pussy hats representing gay pride are now available in my shop. All proceeds from these fun rainbow hats will be donated to Human Rights Campaign.

About

crafting for good

I've dabbled in crafts of all sorts, but the meditative serenity of knitting has long made it my favorite. Although I've gone years at a time without knitting, every time I finish a project my hands start twitching for another.

This year, my love of knitting was rekindled by craftivism projects like the pussy hat and the brain hat, so I've decided to re-open my long-dormant shop to sell these pieces. All proceeds from the sales of craftivism projects will be to organizations aligned with their symbolism, and a portion of proceeds from non-craftivism items (like baby blankets and scarves) will be donated as well.

"All proceeds" means 100% of the sale price, minus Etsy's commission and fees, minus materials, which I've selected for their frugality. See individual listings for details on the donation I expect to make for each item.

In its previous iteration, this shop sold quirky t-shirts with nerdy messages that I silkscreened by hand in the bathroom of a series of tiny New York City apartments. Knitting is much better than that.
