About

Kerdan: Reinvention and a Leap of Faith

Kerdan means "pendant". But there is more to it than that, it's a status symbol in Bedouin culture, and for a long time now has become something of the past. Women would typically wear it in bright gold for the world to admire. They are heavy, bold, dynamic, and have a lot of movement. One of the first pieces I made was a copper kerdan; a revival of sorts, but more than anything a statement of happiness.

All journeys have a start, and mine began with wire and the versatile rivet. I'm fascinated by the fact that they can be both ornamental and connective. Cold connections inspire me, as their design possibilities are endless.

My work is all about bridging the gap between my past and present. It is also an exploration of my identity, and pushing boundaries.

Additional policies and FAQs
Most of my work is in sterling silver, and on occassion brass and copper may be used.

Caring for your jewelry: Please do not use chemical cleaners, as they may break up the patina treatment. Soak piece in warm water and baking soda. Then rub with a soft cloth to remove any dirt build up.
