This is a fabulous yarn, with a fantastic feel. And the colour! So vivid and intense. I am really looking forward to knitting with this.

About

Kettle Yarn Co. - good yarns for good people!

There is nothing worse than working on a project for months only to find on the first wear that the yarn you've used isn't up to the task. As a knitter I've always spent huge amounts of time researching yarn quality for projects and when I started sourcing yarns for Kettle Yarn Co. I decided luxuriously soft BUT hardwearing and long lasting blends would be my focus.

I have done all the research for you and aim to supply sumptuous yarns in stunning colours that ALSO stand up to everyday wear and tear. I've worked hard to find durable yarn in sumptuously soft blends, gentle enough for the most sensitive skins, while still standing the test of time. My bases are carefully sourced from ethical British suppliers and my aim is to ensure animal welfare and support the British Wool Industry while keeping the yarns soft enough for the most sensitive skins.

These luscious yarn blends are then lovingly kettle dyed in small batches by hand to get a subtle depth of colour for people as crazy about luscious colour as I am. The semi-solid colourways have been developed to highlight and enhance your hard work... and you!

As I dye all the yarn in my home kitchen I only use colourfast, vinegar-set dyes instead of natural dyes as the later require quite toxic chemicals to fix colour in the yarn. All products are completely fragrance-free, so the only smell you'll find is sheepy goodness! I make every effort to exhaust all dyes in the dyebath and have developed a method to use up as much of the dye as possible to keep water pure and reduce all possible negative impacts on the environment.

DISCOUNTS
DiscountS can only be applied at time of purchase. If you have any troubles putting one through, please contact me before putting a purchase through and they cannot be done post-purchase.

COLOUR
All my yarn is dyed to try and prevent striping or pooling as much as possible. This creates a random/softer variegated effect that looks good in plain stockinette but also works with more complicated and textural stitch motifs.

Dye lots are not available as dyes are applied by hand in small quantities - therefore no two hanks are exactly the same. As such, it is always advisable to alternate skeins to create even colour in larger projects.

Some colours, particularly the reds, are more prone to bleeding, and though I endeavour to wash all skeins thoroughly after dyeing, I do recommend pre-washing bright colours if you are doing colourwork - just to be sure!

PHOTOGRAPHY
Although I take great care in photographing my yarns, all colours on the internet WILL ALWAYS vary from monitor to monitor due to the nature of different hardware settings.

If you have any doubts about the colours you are seeing, please email me and I will try and describe the actual, real-life hue!

Additional policies and FAQs
COLOUR
Great care is taken to show the yarns in natural light, but please be aware that computer monitors vary and may show colours differently on your screen. If you have any doubt about the colour, please contact me!

WHOLESALE OR CUSTOM INQUIRIES
Please contact me directly through the blog - From the Purlside. Click the contact button at the top right of the blog for direct email.

DYES, ALLERGIES, ETC.
As I personally have severe fragrance allergies, all products used on yarns are hypo-allergenic. All yarns are produced in a critter and smoke free home, so those with allergies to cats/dogs/etc. need not worry!

I do not currently use natural dyes for colouring the yarns as the natural dye process actually uses many toxic chemicals to set the dye. Instead, I use mild acid dyes, the 'acid' being vinegar. These dyes are so mild I can use them in my home kitchen.
