I love this large piece of raw brown tiger eye - I have it by my bed-side cabinet love seeing it before I fall asleep. It has an amazingly authentic energy to it.

This piece was broken when it arrived however Alan, the seller was great and very thoughtful. He was very responsive and helped replace it with another large piece of Vanadinite of my choice. Thank you Alan!

About

Welcome To Kidz Rocks, Inc.

I have loved rocks and minerals since I was a little boy. Living in Arizona in the 1980's I discovered "Rock Hounding" and soon after I learned how to cut and polish rocks. For quite a few years after that I silversmithed beautiful jewelry as gifts for my Mother and Sister. In 2009, I turned my love of rocks into a business, Kidz Rocks, to share amazing specimens from around the world with others.

There are few things in life that inspire a young child to want to learn about the world around them than a pretty rock. Give a child a pretty rock and watch what happens! They want to know all about it, share their knowledge with their friends and family and get outdoors hunting for interesting rocks. It is one of the best educational hobbies we can give our children and grandchildren.

It has been a passion my entire life to pursue types of employment that not only support my family but also make a meaningful contribution to others at the same time.

From my early career engineering computers that maximize natural resources controlling industrial plants for Honeywell to the first point of sale credit card machines for Hypercom that has since saved countless forests of trees with none of us having to write checks at stores for our purchase anymore. Then in my later career starting a corporation in 2003, ClickN KIDS, that has given a bright economic future and new found self esteem to now over 500,000 children who were failed readers not able to move past the 3rd grade.

Kidz Rocks is yet another wonderful opportunity to contribute. Contributing large size quality specimens at affordable prices to avid collectors and bringing metaphysical healing and balance into the lives of others.

I am here to make a difference and if possible, earn a living doing it.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

The adult hand shown in the rock photos is my hand and I have a quite large hand. It is 6 inches from the wrist to the finger tips.

Determining the actual size of a specimen in a photograph is difficult so always purchase from sellers that provide good visual references in their product photos such as the specimen shown in a hand and/or a ruler in the photos.

How Long Has Kidz Rocks Been In Business?

Kidz Rocks, Inc. was founded in 2009. We opened our dedicated website store at www.KidzRocks.com in 2009, our Ebay store in 2015 and our Etsy store in 2016.

Who Are The Owners of Kidz Rocks?

Kidz Rocks was started by Alan Scalone and his 11 year old grandson, Jaidon. Jaidon serves with the honorary title of Vice President of Mining! His affectionate nickname is "Whiny Miner" as sometimes when we go out mining he is very disappointed with the days mining haul!

Alan is a serial entrepreneur, founding ClickN KIDS, Inc. in 2003 a children's education company, Kidz Rocks in 2009, One World Literacy Foundation in 2012 a non-profit to provide education to under-served children and schools, Level Music Entertainment in 2014 an independent record label, and Time Gone Buys a vintage collectibles business in 2015.

Specimen Weight

Always use size as your buying benchmark. Weight is not a good indicator of how large or small a specimen is because you would also have to know the density of that type of mineral for weight to be meaningful. Example: A 5 ounce calcite is about a 3 inch specimen while a 5 ounce galena (lead) is about 1 inch size.

We only use pounds and ounces to indicate the weight of a specimen we have for sale. Avoid sellers that use "carat" weight for mineral specimens. "100 Carats AAA++ Jasper" or whatever. 100 carats is less than one ounce and is a rock about 1/2 inch size. Carats is for gemstones like diamonds and for pearls, not mineral specimens. Using carat weight is a deceptive practice just to make the rock sound bigger.
