OUR LISTINGS
We have two types of listings, "Bulk Purchase" and "Exact Purchase".

"Bulk Purchase" listings are used for types of rocks where every one is very close to the same quality, size and shape as every other one. It saves us labor time by not having to photograph every single rock and saves you money on your purchases because we pass that savings on to you in lower prices. The listing description will state that "You will receive one rock from the lot shown".

"Exact Purchase" listings means you are buying the exact one crystal shown in the listing. The listing description will state "You will receive the EXACT rock shown"

Our Bulk Purchase listings show a rocks in an adult and child hand to better represent the size and the hands are facing left. Our Exact Purchase products where you will get the exact rock shown only show an adult hand and the hand faces right. Also, exact purchase will have the word "(SKU ##)" in the listing title and all photos will be of only one rock.

OUR PRICES
So how do we sell such large sized high quality rocks and minerals for so much lower prices than you see on other stores? Well, first, we are just not greedy. We simply enjoy sharing crystals with others and make an honest living. We are growing a trusted and valued brand of loyal repeat customers.

But there is of course more to it than just not marking up our products a lot. We have spent years researching and tracking down the miners who are mining the crystals or the suppliers that buy directly from the miners. Cutting out countless middlemen dramatically lowers what we have to pay to bring the products to you. We have a global supply chain and can get almost any type of crystal and at much better prices than most rock shops.

DO THE ROCK COLORS MATCH THE ACTUAL COLORS OF THE ROCKS?
When you buy from Kidz Rocks, what you see IS what you get! Photographing rocks and minerals properly is quite complicated and a lot of sellers online do not know how to do it correctly. Using the right camera and using proper lighting for the specimen isn't something, it’s everything. We feel that few, if any other, sellers do it right - the way we do.

Not to get too technical, but we not only use 4500 degree color temperature bulbs with the camera color temperature set to match the bulbs, we also use the only bulbs available on the market rated 100 CRI, made by Solux. CRI - Color Rendering Index - is a measure of the ability of a light source to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully, when compared with a natural light source. This method of photographing crystals does not change the colors of the crystals when seen onscreen, so color correction, or any other editing to the image, is unnecessary.

ARE THE ROCKS NATURAL, TREATED or MAN MAN?
While many shops do not disclose treatments done to certain types of minerals after they are mined. All of our rocks are natural made by nature except for one rock, Carborundum, that is lab grown man made. We also disclosure in the listing descriptions any and all treatments such as dyed, cut & polished, acid-washed, heat treated, etc. If the listing does not state it is treated then it is not treated or altered in any way.

---------------- KIDZ ROCKS ROCK AND MINERAL BUYERS GUIDE ----------------

KIDZ ROCKS Rock And Mineral Buyers Guide

We have created this Buyers Guide to serve our valued customers by helping you to make educated purchasing decisions that maximize your enjoyment in your rock and mineral purchases from online sellers.

Of course, online purchasing by seeing photographs and descriptions of mineral specimens isn’t the same as buying in person, so here are some of the important considerations to be aware of when buying from an online seller:

SIZE MATTERS
When it comes to your enjoyment of mineral specimens, size does matter! There is a huge difference in how much more enjoyable a 3 inch specimen is than a 1 inch specimen.

There is nothing more disappointing than seeing a nice rock online and then when you get it in the mail it is a tiny little specimen .. AND you paid good money for it.

To be sure that you’ll be getting what you really want, buy only from sellers that have several visual reference points, showing clearly the actual size and overall appearance of the specimen in the photos, with a ruler shown in the photo and the detailed measurements written in the listing description. Showing the specimen being held in someone’s hand is one of the best references to show its true size.

Also, while lowest price shopping is always smart, making sure you’ll be getting a nice sized specimen at a fair price is the best way to ensure your enjoyment of your purchases. What is the age old saying? "Don't be penny wise and pound foolish", especially when it comes to investing in your cherished mineral collection.

WEIGHT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER
Weight does not actually matter when buying mineral specimens because you would also need to know the density of the type of mineral for the weight to actually be a meaningful reference of size. An 8 ounce common green opal is a 5 inch specimen while a 8 ounce galena is about 1 1/2 inches.

Where weight DOES matter is when you see a seller listing mineral specimens by "Carat" weight. DON'T be fooled and then disappointed when you receive a tiny specimen. Carat weight is typically only used for faceted gemstones such as diamonds, emeralds and pearls, not for mineral specimens. If, for example, a seller lists Lapis Lazuli as "100 CARATS AAAA++ Lapis Lazuli" for $4.95, though that might seem like a bargain price, remember that “100 carats” is really less than 1 ounce, which would mean you’ll be getting a lapis specimen about 1/2 inch in size! Pretty small! At Kidz Rocks, even our free surprise specimens we include in every order are 100 carats and sometimes much larger.

If you don't want to be disappointed go with size and do not place much weight on weight! Go with sellers that provide good measurement information both in their photos and listing descriptions. Avoid sellers listing mineral specimens by carat or gram weight, it is a deceptive practice just to make the specimen sound bigger.

COLOR MATTERS
When buying mineral specimens color matters as much if not more than size and price. The more vibrant the mineral color as well as the color contrast of specimens with combined minerals, the higher value the specimen.

Did you ever buy a rock online and when you get it in the mail it looks very different than what you saw in the photographs? On the other hand, have you ever bought a Kidz Rocks specimen and it looked exactly like it does in the photographs?

So here's why: Photographing mineral specimens properly is quite complicated and a lot of sellers online do not know how to do it correctly. Using the right camera and using proper lighting for the specimen isn’t something, it’s everything. We feel that few, if any other, sellers do it right - the way we do.

Not to get too technical, but we at Kidz Rocks not only use 4500 degree color temperature bulbs with the camera color temperature set to match the bulbs, we also use the only bulbs available on the market rated 100 CRI, made by Solux. CRI - Color Rendering Index - is a measure of the ability of a light source to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully, when compared with a natural light source. This method of photographing specimens does not change the colors of the specimens when seen onscreen, so color correction, or any other editing to the image, is unnecessary.

When you buy from Kidz Rocks, what you see IS what you get!

So to ensure you are not wasting your money only buy from sellers that obviously have extremely high quality photographs.

REVIEWS MATTER
If you only buy from sellers that have 100% 5 star reviews you will always get great products and great service each and every time. Sellers not consistently delivering quality products and service will NEVER have 100% 5 star only reviews.

Please always contact a seller before you damage a sellers ability to earn an honest living by leaving negative review. By contacting the seller and giving them the opportunity to make it right, you will be doing your part to help fellow shoppers by ensuring sellers reviews are a true reflection of their commitment to satisfied customers rather than a reflection of buyers that use reviews as a method to contact the seller.

If you only shop from sellers with only 5 star reviews, you will always be a satisfied customer.

POLICIES MATTER
Best advice on policies? Again, only buy from sellers that have 5 star reviews. Whatever their policies are they are obviously policies that serve their customers first before everything else!

Our policies are simple .. the customer is ALWAYS right!

Thank you for visiting this buyers guide.

Happy Rock Hunting!

About

Welcome To Kidz Rocks®

I have loved rocks and minerals since I was a little boy. Living in Arizona in the 1980's I discovered "Rock Hounding" and soon after I learned how to cut and polish rocks. For quite a few years after that I silversmithed beautiful jewelry as gifts for family members. In 2009, I turned my love of rocks into a business, Kidz Rocks, to share amazing specimens from around the world with others.

Kidz Rocks is the "The Best Value On The Internet". We have 3 objectives when we source a new product to sell. Larger size, higher quality and lower price. All of our products meet 2 of those objectives and most of them meet all 3.

Our promise is to redefine what it means to shop for rocks and minerals online. NO insane high prices, NO great piece one time and then a disappointing piece next time, NO rocks that look big online and then a tiny piece shows up, NO waiting a long time for shipping.

A partnership you can trust with each and every order that you will be pleased if not amazed when you open your package! Always high quality, Always larger sizes at lower prices, Always exactly what it says it is, Always a positive and fun experience. Those of you that shop with us again and again know we are serious about our commitment to you.

If it is not a specimen we would add to our own prized collection, we don't ship it out to you! When you buy from us you will be satisfied with each and every purchase or your money back and you keep the rock!

I am here to enjoy making a difference and if possible, earn a living doing it.

Thanks,
Alan & Jaidon

Frequently asked questions
What is the photo with an adult and child hand?

The hardest thing to understand when buying rocks online is to really know how large the rock is. Some sellers place a coin or other common object in the photo which is not very helpful. Our customers have told us that showing the rock in a large and a small hand is the best way to show the actual size of the rock.

The adult hand is a XXL glove size hand and measures 8 inches from the wrist to the finger tips. The child hand is a 7 year old average size child and the hand measures 4 inches from wrist to finger tip.

Do the rock colors in the photos match the actual colors in the rock?

When you buy from Kidz Rocks, what you see IS what you get! We not only use 4500 color temperature bulbs but we also use the only bulbs available rated 100 CRI (Color Rendering Index), made by Solux, which is a measure of the ability of a light source to reveal the colors faithfully, when compared with a natural light source.

What is a bulk purchase listing and how to easily tell bulk purchase from exact purchase when browsing our shop?

Bulk purchase listings are used for types of rocks where every one is very close to the same quality, size and shape as every other one. It saves us labor time by not having to photograph every single rock and saves you money on your purchases because we pass that savings on to you in lower prices. You will receive a rock from the lot shown.

Our bulk purchase listings show an adult and child hand and the hands are facing left. Our exact purchase products where you will get the exact rock shown only show an adult hand and the hand faces right.

Are the rocks natural, treated or man made?

All of our rocks are natural made by nature except for one rock, Carborundum, that is lab grown man made. We also disclosure in the listing descriptions any and all treatments such as dyed, cut & polished, acid-washed, heat treated, etc. If the listing does not state it is treated then it is not treated or altered in any way.

Do the rocks come with mineral information cards?

Every shipment has a flyer inside with instructions on how to go to our online comprehensive library of information about each rock we sell. Where it is found, healing properties, mineral properties, what we do with it, interesting facts and so much more. Much more than could ever be included on an small info card some sellers provide!

What is Kidz Rocks return policy?

We NEVER decline a return request! Your satisfaction is more important to us than the money. Simple call or message us and we reply with a full refund, no questions asked. AND most times you keep the rocks! If you purchased a large order or an expensive rock we may decide to send you a pre-paid return shipping label to send the rock back.

Do you offer custom order services or wholesale prices?

Yes! From helping an artist create a massive piece of art using 2,000 pieces of TV rock to helping artists with special size stones for elaborate walking sticks to fluorite crystal chandeliers, air plants, minerals infused into oil paintings, and much more .. we love to work with artists to help them with their creative projects.

Just call us at 818-518-6278 10 AM to 10 PM (PST) to discuss your project so we can provide exactly what you need.

Our repeat customers know that for the quality, size and discounts our prices are already wholesale prices! However, if you want to buy 10 pounds or more of a single rock, message us for even better wholesale discounts

What about discounts?

Buy 5 or more of ANY of our products and receive a 10% discount on your entire order. Buy 5 or more of the same rock, 1 each of 5 different rocks, mix and match as desired. The shopping cart automatically applies the discount as you add products to your cart.

Also, we never change more that $7.10 for shipping no matter how many rocks are on your order! We pay the extra shipping costs when needed.

Who is Kidz Rocks and how long have you been in business?

Kidz Rocks® was founded in 2009. We opened our .com website store in 2009, our Ebay stores in 2015 and our Etsy shops in 2016.

Kidz Rocks was started by Alan and his 11 year old grandson, Jaidon. Jaidon serves with the honorary title of Vice President of Mining! His affectionate nickname is "Whiny Miner" as sometimes when we go out mining he is very disappointed with the days mining haul!

Alan is a serial entrepreneur, founding ClickN KIDS, Inc. in 2003 a children's education company, Kidz Rocks in 2009, One World Literacy Foundation in 2012 a non-profit to provide education to under-served children and schools, Level Music Entertainment in 2014 an independent record label, and Time Gone Buys a vintage collectibles business in 2015.
