Announcement   We are the original designers that created the Snap Kilt, Latch Kilt, Double Cross Kilt, Baddie Leather Suit, and the GEAR Kilt. Any kilt you see with 3 rows of snaps, 2 snaps on each side, with metal O-rings as connectors to the kilt...that's our original design. 3 women, one family making each kilt individually using their own creativity to make you a custom kilt in their own designs since 2009. For more options available please visit our website at www.kiltthis.com

Any orders for April - Summer 2016 must be placed IMMEDIATELY. Rush orders taken on a case by case basis depending on time frame and location, for an additional fee. Send us a message if you are interested in rush orders. Orders come in daily and we suggest it's best not to wait too long to order if you are planning for an event. The closer to summer, the worse your chances are to have a kilt for the warmer months.

This snap utility kilt is the base starting kilt for what is the new standard in utility kilts; interchangeable front aprons and pockets. This original design was created by Kilt This! Each kilt is handmade by the actual designers. Start with this kilt and add front aprons to change the look instead of having to purchase several kilts. Durable, made to be worn daily. This kilt comes with 2 large expanding cargo pockets, 3 compartments each to carry most items you need for a hike or an outdoor event. The design allows you to fold it up and slide it into a laptop bag or a backpack for travel. The pleats are sewn on both the inside of the kilt and the outside. This helps maintain the appearance over time and to allow you to fold it up and pack it away. The kilt is custom made to your measurements so it fits like a glove, right out of the box. All the kilts are adjustable by 5-10 inches but we want it to fit right from the start then you can adjust it as needed. Not all kilts are measured the same and not all pants use the same measurements, so it's important to follow our directions when sending us your measurements. Length cannot exceed 24", beyond 24" we refer you to our full length utility kilts.

There are 3 ways you can use this site to place your order;
1) Go to our "Choose your design," section and follow the directions for each item.

2) Visit the sections of our shop of existing designs. You can choose to have any of those designs or similar in the colors of your choice. All sizes are available. Orders are custom fit.

3) Send us a message. We can make the decision process a bit easier to decide by helping you choose what design, options, upgrades and custom work to place your order.

Once you decide on your kilt we collect your measurements via messaging. All our business is run online, text, and email. If you have any questions, just send a message and we usually respond within 24hrs.

Waist sizes are to the nearest inch because our kilts are adjustable. If you would like to add the half inch, mention it in the notes to the seller when you pay for your item.

Recieved it ahead of schedule. Very nice. Very high craftsmanship and quality. Thanks guys for making it for me quickly. Girlfriend was blown away. Loves it! I especially like the hidden pockets. IF i had to make one negative, it would be to make side pockets removable. But they lay flat and are secured well so really well done. Awesome kilt.

About

Kilt This ships Kilts All Over the World

This all came about out of demand more than a deliberate journey into kilt making. I actually only started sewing in July of 2009. I had decided in the previous fall that I wanted to wear men's kilts in the summer instead of shorts. I had never owned a kilt before, and I had never really seen any kilts other than in pictures. I never looked at one up close. I am a pretty alternative personality, so I don't really do many things that are considered mainstream, but I've managed a lot of rock bands here in Minneapolis and I did a lot of promotion for those bands using the internet; Myspace, Facebook, etc. I decided to retire from that so I had more time on my hands than usual, and when I did research into utility kilts I was amazed to find out that they cost so much. I couldn't afford one! Since I'm not one to give up I was still set on having a utility kilt. So I looked at some pictures on the internet (via Google), got some ideas, and told my partner, Cris, "I think I could make one of those." I had some obstacles; #1: I don't own a sewing machine, #2: I don't sew, #3: I have no pattern, and #4: I have no money to buy a machine or cloth. So, my partner gave me an old pair of her goth pants which, if you've ever seen those, are made very large and use a lot of material.

I sewed it by hand; no machine. I had found information on the internet on how to sew by hand. I wore this to the local Costco one day and the greeter asked where I bought it. I told her I had made it, and she suggested that I sell them. So I started to look into it. A couple of days later my partner Cris bought me a 1930's Singer Spartan sewing machine from a yard sale for $6. I have affectionately named her Lady Spartan.

So, I took twenty bucks and bought some fabric, snaps, and thread. I couldn't afford the accessories I had wanted, so my partner suggested we go to the Goodwill Outlet to see if we could find some stuff to use. I found out that you can buy used clothing and backpacks and whatnot for a dollar a pound. A DOLLAR!! So, I got my accessories off of purses and belts. I also grabbed an old brown table cloth that was like duck cloth and made some kilts.

I posted the pictures on the internet to see what would happen; they sold. I didn't sell the actual kilts but I took orders to make kilts similar to them. It's been a whirlwind ever since. It just snowballed. Cris had to start helping, and we began to get more creative and confident. We still don't have a pattern. We wing it on every kilt, but the kilts keep progressing and getting better. We try to keep the prices of the kilts to a minimum. My first few orders were to larger men and I was surprised to find out that they are charged almost double by some kilt makers because they are larger. We don't do that. We keep in mind that the whole reason this began was because we couldn't afford what was out there.

Short story long...we never planned on a website, a business, or a bunch of demand. We fell into it. But, the kilt community has been awesome and extremely supportive. What a great bunch of people. We are very lucky and grateful to everyone that has offered their support. We just try to offer a good product at a reasonable price and we deal honestly with everyone. We don't make promises we can't keep and we truly design each kilt to each individual that orders. So, if anyone wants to help with the website, we are open to suggestions. Word has spread far and wide. We have kilts not only in the US now, they are in Germany, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and the United Kingdom. We put up the GoDaddy website because we couldn't afford anything else, and it was quick and easy. We've only been in business since July. We sold our first kilt July 13th, 2009.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Welcome to Kilt This! The only utility kilts made to interchange the parts. Handmade by the actual designers each kilt is a work of art. These are not mass produced items. Each order is handled individually, made custom to your needs.
Our kilts are the only kilts available world wide to adjust by 5-10" in the waist as a standard kilt. Measurements are taken to custom fit each kilt to the buyer. We work closely with you to build your kilt. Simply pick your design, colors, add your upgrades and you are finished. Then, we create the kilt. Each one is special and no 2 are alike unless you request identical kilts. We can even take family tartans and add them to the design an build around it. Just send us your requests, the worst we can say is no, but in most cases, we can create something special for you.
All our designs can interchange as an upgrade. Each kilt can swap front aprons. Collect our front aprons in your favorite designs. Many people are already collecting.

Leather has become a new passion. We have created modern leather kilts and complete leather outfits including individual leather sleeves and leather vest. The designers hand pick each leather hide and cut out the patterns themselves. If you love leather, steampunk, fetish, classy and sexy clothing, you found the right people.

We aim to please and we are always open to a challenge. We know our limits and would never bite off more than we can chew on a project. Our door is open to ideas.

Thank you and enjoy visiting our shop.
The Kilt Girls,
Serena and Cris

Additional policies and FAQs
How to measure yourself for our kilts? What measurements are needed?

Waist - Our kilts are made to fit like a pair of cargo shorts. They will adjust approximately 5-7 inches from the waist measurement you provide. You want to measure with a measuring tape around where you normally have pants hang along your hip, and either over your belly or under it, which ever you prefer. Be sure to measure against your skin and not over clothing. If you measure over clothing it will make the kilt too loose and the measurements will be inaccurate. With the proper measurements you will only have to adjust the apron when you first try it on, and only minimal adjustments after that if you gain or lose weight. The great thing about this design is that you can adjust your kilt and it will never look different in appearance. The kilt will always look centered, level and well-fit.

Hip - Measuring around the hip area will help keep the kilt from being too snug around your hips, rear, and the Jewels.

Length - This measurement is commonly done for utility kilts by kneeling. You want to take the measurement from the side of your hip. Measure from where the top of your jeans would be to the floor. This typically makes the kilt length to about mid knee.
