Kim Bird
Art expression is an appetite built into me. I feel an overwhelming need to create. My work is inspired by our natural environment, light, and contrasting dark and light whether it be watercolor, oil, pastel, batik, or in my photography. My goal is to capture the light quality as it touches a landscape or still life. I draw inspiration from the many places I have lived including Minnesota, Idaho, Missouri, Michigan and now Northern California.
I have always taken as many art courses as I could in high school. I furthered my art education at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In College I studied Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Drawing, and Photography.
My husband and I moved to Northern California in 2010 as he was transferred to the Lassen National Forest. I was finding my place in a new art community. I show my work at the Blue Goose Gallery Of Artists in Chester,California and have been a part of the gallery since 2013.
