Before these little cuties enter the fire of uncertainty dizzy_face One broke while glazing and one had a crack at the bottom when it was done. 28 out of 30. I guess that’s a good ratio.
Busy as a bee filling orders but more pots coming soon! These are spouts made on the wheel for soap dishes. Time to attach them. Have a happy day, everyone! x
Running this whole pottery shop on my own makes you wear all kinds of hats. Here is a shot of how I prepare my dirty clay hands before taking pictures of my pots. I guess this is me wearing the “hand model” hat. grinning_face_with_one_large_and_one_small_eye

About

Join me on Instagram @kimhauceramics to see my journey through clay.

My love for pottery started during my time at Metropolitan State College of Denver where I got my BFA in communications design in 2002. Taking a craft course was a requirement, so I decided to try my hands at clay. I loved everything about it, the studio life, the chemistry of glazes, and the whole process of forming clay into a finished pot for use in your day to day life.

After graduating, I joined ceramic classes/studios wherever I lived to continue practicing while working as a graphic designer, English instructor in Japan, and substitute teacher. I learned from great potters in Colorado, California, and Japan. I finally decided to make the leap to pursue pottery full time in 2013 when I moved to Los Angeles, California where I got my tiny studio built.

My constant curiosity and inquisitive nature helps drive me to passionately improve my skill and design in clay. Every pot is made from scratch with my hands, the wheel, and tools for throwing, trimming and glazing. My body, mind, and hands can only work as fast as a normal human. I wish I had superwoman powers though and more time in the day :-)

Thank you for checking out my shop! :-)
