I'm Yelena, and I'm from sunny California. I crochet, knit and design patterns for cozy beach-life-inspired blankets, hats, scarves and other things that make you feel comfy, relaxed and snug. I grew up by the sea and love the beach life. There is nothing like cozying up with a thick warm blanket on a foggy fall morning, listening to the sound of waves and sipping on a hot tea.

I learned to crochet, knit and sew when I was very young. My family was full of makers (by trade or as a hobby), and a sewing machine or a crochet hook was never far away. In my teens, I made clothes for myself (a sweater, a mini-dress, a scarf or two and leg warmers, I grew up during the 80s after all).

As I got older, life got busy, and I stopped creating. I made things with my head (numbers, reports, technical work, writing), and made it my career, but found myself returning to creating things with my hands as a way to ground myself, get out of my head and fight stress.

At last I have returned to making, with my hands and my heart, and Kind Of Knit was born. Writing patterns that are simple, timeless and let you express your creativity while relaxing and getting away from the busy world.
