Announcement   www.kingstowngallery.com. An artist with over 40 years experience in painting, drawing and exhibiting works based in Yorkshire, England, UK. Predominantly an accomplished portrait artist John has transcended his works to marine art and landscapes.

Using the high discipline involved in portraiture and coupled with his years spent on the coast and harbours fishing, his style brings both clarity and abstraction into his paintings. Using a style and technique that intensifies the fluidity of water, the reflections and colours give unique depth, contrast and light to the scene. His contemporary landscapes use the unique texture and impasto qualities of oil paint which strongly intensify the light of the subject.

ORIGINAL PAINTINGS:
My paintings are original each one is unique and one of a kind. I began drawing and painting from childhood. Early memories of my grandfather showing me how to draw an American Indian portrait in profile using children's chalks inspired me to draw and eventually paint in different mediums.

I was quite a prolific portrait artist for many years of people and pets, painting on request, the majority of commissions where based on word of mouth. Along with working full time, left little time for painting for myself. I decided to leave the portraits alone for a while and paint what I wanted to paint. The results of which you can find in my shop, these are some of by best works to date and I believe show a true developed style and taste for art. I hope you agree, each individual piece is unique taking many hours from sketches, photographs, experience and life.

Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that colors may slightly change when you see the painting or print in person, as the human eye has a far greater colour scale than a camera / computer, Actual colours printed on paper seem to me much more bright and delicate than on computers; I hope it will be a good surprise for you too!
