Under a cherry tree, all of life's burdens fly away

The shop name, Kirschbaum Strasse, meaning cherry tree lane, is my happy place and represents an optimistic view on life. It was inspired by hardship, rolling with the punches, and the faith that everything will work out.

The road you take in life doesn’t always go according to plan and mine certainly didn’t. I was in the middle of my master’s in biology when my husband and I got pregnant. I’d had a lot of reproductive issues and doctors said it was unlikely that I’d ever get pregnant, but there she was! I finished my master’s and decided to stay home with our little Miss Mo until my husband finished his PhD. And then her brother showed up! Best laid plans, right?

Mo had more surprises in store for us. She stopped speaking, started having seizures, and it turned out that she’s missing a couple of genes. My plans of going back to work were put on hold as it became increasingly obvious that I needed to stay home with her.

Now, a few years later, that sacrifice has paid off and Miss Mo is finally starting to talk! But all those medical bills need to be paid off, too. So, I took a cue from all the crafting and painting that Mo and I like to do and started this little business to help cover those medical costs.

With a life that’s been full of bittersweet, it’s nice just to focus on the cherries on top. There will always be bumps in the road, which is why I like to make the most of the happy moments and special days: Christmas morning, grandma’s fresh baked cookies, baby’s first word, and when the cherry trees blossom in spring.

I love creating tangible reminders of those fleeting moments and I look forward to sharing in your special moments, too.
