About

Get to know the person behind the shop

I would never have imagined that I would have been an entrepreneur but I’m so drilled at the way life as turned out so far. I have to give most of the credit to my youngest son because of him I am on the path that I am right now. Lets rewind back a little bit… My oldest son was born a micro-preemie, weight 1lb 8 oz. I wasn’t able to breastfeed because he was in an incubator for the first few weeks of his life. And even after he graduated from the incubator, he was attached to machines to help him breathe. So the next best thing to do was to pump breast milk, liquid gold as they call it. My exclusive pumping journey lasted 6 months. I was uneducated on breastfeeding/pumping so once my son started drinking more milk than I was producing; I decided that it was best to stop pumping. It was a hard decision but I just couldn’t keep up with his milk intake demand. Once I found out that I was expecting again, I was overjoyed that I would have a second chance to breastfeed. Our journey started on a rocky road because he didn’t want to latch. I was in tears because I felt like such a failure. I wanted to nurse so desperately and I felt the opportunity slipping away from my hands. So I decided to see a lactation specialist, she saved my breastfeeding experience. That same day my son and I were on the road to a happy breastfeeding journey.

I was so proud of my son and I because we were exclusively breastfeeding. I quickly realized that I needed some sort of nursing cover. My hat goes off to all the mamas that breastfeed without a cover. I truly believe that a mom has every right to breastfeed her baby anywhere and at anytime without covering up but that wasn’t for me. Yes, I do believe that I can breastfeed my baby anywhere and at anytime but I’m not comfortable showing my boobies to the world. I wanted a cover that was practical and multi-functional. So I decided to unbox my brand new sewing machine that my husband gifted me for Mother’s Day (from the year before) and taught myself how to sew. I watched tons of YouTube videos and with a lot of trials and errors I created myself a few nursing scarves. My nursing scarves were my golden items. I had one with me all the time and when I wasn’t feeding my son, I used it as a scarf. It truly gave me the confidence to breastfeed my son anywhere and at anytime. I breastfed him in the doctor’s office, at the mall, in the park, in the airport, airplanes, restaurants, everywhere we went, I nursed him. I took great pride in being able to feed my son with my body. The female body is pretty amazing. Not only are we able to grow a tiny human inside of us but we are also able to feed that child.

I wanted to provide other moms with the same feelings that my nursing scarves offered me. I wanted other moms to feel confident to go out into the world and breastfeed their babies and enjoy the privacy that the nursing scarf provided. Having a newborn requires a lot of things to be packed into the diaper bag and it was bonus that the nursing scarf was multi-functional. The nursing scarf can be used as a scarf, nursing cover, light blanket, a changing cloth, car-seat cover, a high chair cover and shopping cart cover. I decided to list some nursing scarves on Etsy and I still remember the first sale that I received. I felt so accomplished and fulfilled.

Every nursing scarf is created with love. My nursing scarves were my golden item while breastfeeding and I hope you feel the same way about yours.
