About

Beautiful. Useful. Wood.

Hi. Welcome to Kissing Frog.

Ours is a simple story. Jack's a maker. It's both who he is and what he does. I don't think he could stop if he wanted to. (He doesn't want to.) He's a problem solver and he loves wood. When the things he made (beautiful and useful things!) piled up too high, I started sharing them with others and then selling them. Kissing Frog was born.

ABOUT OUR NAME:

What happens when you kiss a frog?

Something magical:

The unattractive become desirable.

The worthless become valuable.

Discards become treasures.

Transformation.

At Kissing Frog, we look below the surface for the wonder within the wood. We love to see the transformations that take place as an ordinary hunk of wood becomes a thing of beauty. It's especially rewarding when working with something destined for the fire or when reclaiming others' discards. Wood rewards the senses: the sweet smell as the shavings pile up, the smooth, satiny feel as a piece is sanded, and the infinite variety and beauty of the grain, knots, and hues. Our goal is for you to enjoy each piece as much as we enjoy crafting it.

ABOUT US:

Jack is dad and the leader of this venture - sharing his shop (Thanks, Dad!) and many years of experience. He was also the first frog to be kissed and the beginning of our Happily Ever After.

I (Nancy) do the mothering, paper trails, and am involved with product development. My favorite place is the bee yard.

The testing department and apprentice craftsmen range in age from infant to 30; we have 10 kids and 3 grandchildren. The count might vary from day to day, but there are a number of them in residence here in rural Michigan. Reading, knitting, puzzles, cooking, climbing trees, drawing, crocheting, wood carving, baking, theater, playing in the dirt, board games, writing: an endless and ever-evolving variety of activities compete for their time. We're grateful they manage to squeeze in some time to help us. We are also continually inspired and challenged by their creativity and imagination.

And did we mention the bees???
Intriguing, fascinating, mysterious, and always amazing. It would be more accurate to say they keep us than that we keep them. They are the source of much inspiration and beeswax.

ABOUT WHAT WE SELL:

Kissing Frog creates useful products handcrafted using locally sourced wood in a way that reveals and accentuates its natural beauty.

Thank you for visiting our shop.
If you have questions or need any more information, please send us a convo.
We are always glad to hear from you.
We are a family-run, home-based business. We are grateful for you, our customers, and try to give good service by responding promptly to messages and orders. That said, we ARE a family first and ask you to be patient if you do not get an immediate response. We have a kids first, business second policy. This means that a lot of "business" is done during evening hours (aka after bedtime.)

OR
you can pay through Etsy's direct check-out using your credit card.

Shipping
Many items ship USPS Priority with an expected delivery time of 2 - 3 business days. Exceptions include Bee Good to Wood and other small items for which we charge less than $5 shipping and handling. Also, larger items will usually ship USPS parcel to keep your costs down. If your shipment is time sensitive, please let us know and we can clarify the quote for your item. We aim for speedy service and usually ship the next business day after payment. We live on the north end of town and the post office is on the south end. This is a blessing because, in this small town, that means we're only 2 blocks apart! And there's usually a kid available and happy to stretch her legs and drop off a package.

We would be happy to combine shipping on multiple items. Please contact us for a quote.

At this time, we only ship in the United States.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us within 7 days. You will need to ship the item back to us for a refund and you are responsible for the cost of return shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
If we can help you in any way, please let us know!
We are happy to do custom orders. Custom orders usually require two weeks before shipping, so be sure to order early.
