Announcement Huda, from Iraq, and Rokaya, from Syria, are two friends in Madison, Wisconsin, who traveled roads far from home, through bureaucracies and years of delay to follow the paths of refugees accepted for resettlement in the United States. Coming from two counties wracked by war, how fitting that they named their home enterprise Knitting for Peace. Well aware of the importance of basics for survival, like warm clothing and nourishing food, it seems also fitting that their skills go to making neck warmers, hats, headbands, and vests. From the minute they arrive, refugees enhance the quality and caring of the communities in which they settle. Enjoy the soft warmth and bright colors of items from Knitting for Peace and know that your orders strengthen Huda and Rokaya's families (between them 5 children), in a centuries-old American tradition of welcoming newcomers.
