Announcement   Rewound: the knitting supplies shop with a difference! Here you will find fabulous reclaimed yarn in luxury fibres and scrumptious colours - silk, cashmere, merino, angora, alpaca, cotton... All ready to be knitted again. My recycled yarn is carefully unravelled into hanks by hand, from high quality second-hand sweaters, weighed, measured, then lovingly straightened, washed and labelled it to bring you high quality yarns to rival anything you can buy off the shelf. I also sell handmade upcycled stitch markers and occasional knitted treats - made from reclaimed yarn, of course!

If there's a particular yarn you're after then get in touch - I may have the very sweater sat in my stockroom waiting to be unravelled just for you. Similarly I am happy to receive custom requests for notions and knitted items - tell me what you want and I'll see what I can do!

Welcome to Rewound! The knitting supplies shop with a difference. I sell reclaimed yarn, carefully harvested from old knitted garments, hand-washed and lovingly rewound into fabulous fresh hanks for you to knit with anew!

Why knit with reclaimed yarn? Well, first things first: it's totally ethical. No resources are drained, no employees are treated poorly, no animals are harmed to bring you this yarn. It minimises landfill by upcycling garments that would otherwise have been thrown away, so Rewound yarn is environmentally friendly and has a far smaller carbon footprint than new yarn.

And if you're not convinced by that, how about this - it's totally unique! You won't find the yarn in my shop anywhere else. It's true, on rare occasions I do stumble upon the same sweater twice, but excluding that rarity all these yarns are a one off. I select only the best fibres and colours, so you have a range of beautiful merinos, silks, cashmere and wools to choose from. Even better, they are often harvested from garments made by high-end brands, so you get a higher quality of yarn, made by companies like Pringle, Burberry or Jaeger.

Payment
Payment by PayPal is preferred but if you don't have a PayPal account just get in touch and we can work something out.
Shipping
Items will be dispatched by first class post within two days of your order. If you require a different service or would like to enquire about international shipping, please send me a message.

I do not insure my parcels so let me know before purchasing an item if you require insurance and I will add it to the shipping cost.

All customs charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
Buying yarn should be a joyful experience. You should open your Rewound parcel with squeals of delight, squoosh it, pet it, rub it against your cheek, show it off to your friends and daydream about what you're going to knit with it.

If for some reason this doesn't happen, let me know (within 14 days of receipt) and I'll see what I can do!

Returned items must be unused, unless faulty. In the event of faulty, mis-represented (I'm only human, it happens!) or damaged goods, a full refund will be given including shipping. If you've changed your mind, or it just wasn't quite what you were expecting, feel free to return it within 30 days for something different, or a refund - but I can't cover shipping in this instance.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note the yarns listed here are recycled and have their own occasional imperfections. Reclaimed yarn is often very loosely plied, but this does not affect the way it knits up - try it, you'll see! My washing and straightening process is very effective but depending on the fibre some residual 'wiggle' may remain - again this does not affect the knitting. Check out my blog, knittingrewound.blogspot.co.uk, for more info on knitting with reclaimed yarn.

My workshop is full to bursting with all kinds of goodies waiting to be found, so if there's something you'd like to see in the shop, a yen you have for a specific yarn, particular colour of stitch marker or even a custom hand-knitted item, just ask! I'll do my best to fulfil your request.

I try to describe each hank accurately, but all weights and yardages are approximate. If there's a yarn you like the look of but are unsure about, let me know and I'll be happy to send a small sample to you - there are normally a few offcuts of each yarn knocking about.

My yarn is all wound into hanks but if you prefer I can wind it into centre-pull balls for you before dispatch.
