Use the Custom Order or Contact button to request a knit item in a particular combination of size, yarn type, and color. I will choose yarn based on your preferences and price range. Custom hats cost between $55 and $75. I will create a listing for you to purchase before making the item.

Sizing: Sizes and corresponding head circumferences are below. Note that knitting is flexible, so don’t worry too much about measuring exactly. If you aren't sure what size to get, message me and I can help you decide. If you end up with a size you don’t like, return it in new condition with the tag still on and I will be happy to exchange it for a different size (though this may take more time if I don't have the replacement in stock, and if it was a unique yarn the replacement won't be the same). No returns or exchanges for custom orders.

Extra small: 51-53 cm. or 20-21 inches
Small: 54-55 cm or 21-21.75 inches
Medium: 56-57 cm. or 22-22.5 inches
Large: 58-59 cm. or 22.75-23.5 inches

Spot clean as needed with a damp sponge or towel. For more thorough washing, which you don’t usually need to do with wool unless the clothing actually seems dirty or smelly, fill a dish or bucket with enough cool-to-lukewarm (not hot!) water to cover the item(s). Add a mild soap. Something designed for wool is best, but a few drops of dish soap will do if necessary. Let the clothing soak in the soapy water for about 15 minutes, then swish it around in the water a little and let it soak again. empty the bucket, refill it, and move the clothing gently in the clean water to rinse off the soap. After washing, lay the clothing out to air dry, turning over as needed. Note that wool can take a while to dry thoroughly.

Knitting naturally stretches over time because of the way the stitches function, as well as the natural elasticity of wool. If your hat or other knit clothing gets loose, wash it as described above. This will help it regain much of its original shape.

Compared to factory-made hats and scarves, my pieces may seem expensive, but expensive does not mean overpriced. The costs are partly because of the materials (for example, a hand-dyed skein of merino is usually around $30; this is as it should be to pay the dyer for their skill and labor, and the unique colors are worth the cost, but it means that nearly half of the money you pay for a hat goes to yarn), shipping/packaging (usually $6-$7 per item), and additional costs (10% of each sale goes to Etsy, and tools and other supplies add up). This is all before counting my own labor, which accounts for the remaining cost.
