FAQ
1) How do I look after my leather product?
- Store your item in a cool, dry place. Never leave it exposed to direct sunlight.
- Do not overfill your bag as it is designed to carry only a certain amount of load. Overfilling it will stretch the leather and the bag could lose its shape. Exceeding the load will also cause unnecessary strain on the metal fittings.
When properly cared for, your leather product will maintain its beauty and usefulness for years.
2) How do I remove spills?
- Remove spills with a soft, damp cloth by wiping the liquid away.
- Let the leather dry naturally. Do not use a hair-dryer on it as force-drying could overstretch and damage the leather.
3) How do I clean and condition it?
- Use only specialist leather cleaners and condition designed for full-grain or saddle leather. Regular cleaning and conditioning will keep your item in perfect condition.
- Dip a soft cloth in a mixture of cleaner and warm water, or follow the instructions as specified on the cleaner.
- Wipe the leather with the cloth. To clean off any dirt, gently rub the area until the dirt is removed.
- For dirt that has set in or is hard to reach, dip a soft toothbrush in the mixture of cleaner and water and gently scrub the affected area.
- When finished, wipe the leather with a dry cloth and allow it to dry naturally.
- Apply a conditioner to the leather after a thorough cleaning. This will give it a protective layer against moisture and dirt.
4) What types of leather do we use?
Choosing the best cut of leather is the starting point in our commitment to produce designs of supreme quality. To create beautiful luxury items that our customers can enjoy for a lifetime, we use 1.6 - 1.8mm thick Crazy Horse leather made from full grain cowhide leather in nearly all our collections, and 3mm thick vegetable-tanned leather for belts and straps.
5) What is Crazy Horse leather?
Crazy Horse leather is buffed and smoothened full grain leather that has been treated with special purpose wax. Full grain leather is the highest quality leather. It is found just under the coat of the animal where the fibres are very fine and densely packed. Taut, strong and highly-resistant to water, it is valued as the most durable type of leather that holds up well to everyday use.
6) What is vegetable-tanned leather?
Vegetable-tanned leather is leather that has been processed from raw hide using tannic acids found in plants and fruit. While there is a cheaper and faster tanning method that involves the use of chemicals, we purchase only leather that has been vegetable-tanned because we believe the natural way of production is more sustainable and socially-responsible.
