My journey to Etsy started after I lost my job. I decided I needed to do something I really enjoyed to keep me busy. I had been sewing for years and made some of my own clothes and all of my daughter's Halloween costumes. After thinking about all the things I could make, I decided to make diaper bags to sell at craft shows.

Around this time a friend asked me to make her a diaper bag because she didn't want one of those conventional bags she saw in the stores. I made a few more for relatives and at a baby shower where I made a diaper bag for the mom-to-be, a couple of the women there told me I should consider selling them on Etsy. I had never even heard of Etsy but decided to check it out. I was excited about the prospect of having my own little shop, but nervous at the same time about embarking on this new venture, but that didn't last long. Even though this was completely different from what I was used to doing, I feel my experience in the working world for about 38 years really helped me in every aspect.

I've just passed my 8 year anniversary and it has been a great learning experience. The wealth of information I've gotten from the teams I joined is priceless. I've decided to focus on making only the regular and special needs changing pads and bibs as these have really taken off. I still thoroughly enjoy all aspects of running my shop, but what I get the most satisfaction from is the feedback from my customers on how much they like my items. It's so nice to know that you're making something that not only fills a need for those moms-to-be out there, but they love them too. :)
