LIVbylouise is taking a short break

Note from shop owner The arrival of our third little sweet babe who does not sleep through the night (when I usually sew) has made opening my shop impossible right now. I do hope to open again soon!

We purchased an Easter basket for my daughter in 2014 and it wouldn't have been the same without one for my son for 2016. We love these baskets. Sarah does amazing work and each basket has something personal for each of my loves. Absolutely love them.

This shop was started as a way for me to return to sewing, to connect with a childlike me and an art passed down from my mother along with her middle name Louise.

At the time I opened my shop a couple years ago I was expecting my first sweet babe, I had returned to my hometown from life in the big city in fashion and marketing, and had bought the new Bernina that I promised myself I would once I was "old" and could afford one. The day I bought the Bernina was like a dream I will never forget. So many things you wish for in childhood change or fall away. This one had not and the realization of it was pure child like joy.

The act of combining colors and textures into something meaningful and new had always seemed like magic to me and I wanted to feel that spark again. This shop was basically an experiment. I planned to make a handful of Christmas stockings and list them with no expectations... just to create.

Almost all of them sold in the first week and I quickly got requests for custom orders.... I had to make more. Since then it has grown into several other products including things for Halloween and Easter.

I started with a wool felt blend as the main source of my products I think because it reminded me of raising sheep when I was younger.. it seemed old and cozy and at the same time fresh and modern. It doesn't require a lot of pinning (which I hate) and has a natural depth and durability to it that I appreciate as a practical mommy.

LIVbylouise is full of creations by me, Sarah Louise, with the help of my mother Jozell Louise and the encouragement of my handsome hubby and two lovely daughters Noelle & Adeline.

I like to make things for life's happy moments and traditions I create with my family. Inspired by my own story book grandmother, I create things that feel reminiscent of the many handmade gifts received throughout my childhood that are infused with a joyful spirit I know she would appreciate.

My Etsy shop has slowly grown through the birth of my two sweet girls. I am the tortoise rather than hare when it comes to expanding my offerings and shop, but it is a progression that maintains balance in my life and one I know is leading me somewhere new. I am doing my best to be patient with its growth and the responsibilities of my most important role as mommy, wife, sister and daughter.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you find something special for the ones you love.
