Pieces of glass are layered to create a design, and then fired in a kiln to a temperature at which the glass layers melt and fuse together. The glass can be clear, colored (translucent or opaque), or dichroic (black or clear glass with a space-age coating that is reflective/metallic looking). Sometimes small bits or spaghetti-like pieces of glass are incorporated in the design. Other techniques include etching, stamping, and enameling. The glass is cooled slowly after it reaches correct melting temperature to insure that it will be strong and withstand wear without cracking.

Some of the pendants have glued on bails. These can be silver or gold-plated, or in some cases were handmade by me out of sterling silver, brass, or copper. The descriptions will indicated which of these bails was used.
Some of the pendants have a groove around the outside, which I added with a grinder, and are then wired wrapped, creating a bail. The wire used is a non-tarnish silver or brass wire; I do not use sterling on these because of the likelihood of tarnishing and the difficulty you would have cleaning these.
Some of the pendants have been fabricated using my fused glass with fine silver (in the form of Precious Metal Clay). Fine silver is 99.9% silver, and is more tarnish resistant than sterling silver.

Unless indicated in the item description, all pendants come with a simple necklace made of rattail cord (a satin like material). Specify 16" or 18" length. Some pendants require a chain, which is included, and the price reflects that.
If you would like to purchase a chain for your piece, I have some sterling silver and gold-filled chains available. Let me know and I will email you the cost.
