Frequently asked questions

Does Artist accept custom and personalized orders?

Charles Littleleaf welcomes custom orders on Native American flutes, as well as design personalizations. Please contact us at your convenience with your idea(s) and Charles will reply to address your request.

If you need a special size in one of our featured Native American flute bags, feel free to contact us with further information and we will get back to you quickly.

What is a good flute for a beginner to start on?

Due to it's playing comfort for beginners new to this flute playing journey, we recommend a Pacific Northwest Cedar Flute in the key of Mid A or Mid G minor. If you have large hands and prefer a lower tone, a Mid F, Mid F# or a Low D minor should be suitable.

Care instructions

Charles' Native American flutes require very little care due to the non-toxic exterior finish that protects these instruments, lasting a lifetime. However, it is always nice to apply our all-natural Sunburst Flute and Wood Polishing Paste about once a month to rejuvenate it's luster and shine. We offer our Sunburst Polish in our Etsy Shop. Our kits also include our easy to follow Sunburst application instructions.

We also recommend loosening the flute block (totem) from the flute body in between playing time, which will allow the moisture condensation build up to evaporate and to avoid any wood warping on the underside of the block. Staying vigilant in this practice will preserve the life of your flute for decades.

Do you ship anywhere in the world?

Yes, we happily ship anywhere in the world and have done so for nearly 20 years. And we always offer one discounted flat shipping rate for our International customers.

Do your flute lengths vary?

Yes. Lengths are determined by the range/key of the flute and do vary considerably. Please see our individual listings which will provide flute length approximations within each description.

Does Artist sign his flutes?

Yes, Charles' signs, dates and keys all instruments, and includes his small 'leaf' insignia

How can I cancel my order?

You are welcome to cancel your order within 3 days of your purchase date in order to be refunded for the full amount of your purchase. If a custom flute is being constructed/personalized for you and you cancel after 3 days from date of purchase, artist will retain a 35% cancellation fee, deducted from your refund. Personalized flutes are not resold.
