About

A Passion for Sparkle

I can get a little obsessive. It all started when I was making so many jewelry pieces that I didn't know what to do with them. They were literally popping out of every nook and cranny of my house! My friends and relatives were also draped in my creations...clearly something had to be done.

At the time, I was in college and working in a bead store as a bead slinger/workshop instructor, so I started out selling my jewelry there. One day, I was approached by the coordinator of an art gallery who offered me gallery representation.

I eventually moved to a larger gallery and art center where I had a working studio. I was so lucky to meet many talented artists from all different backgrounds and be inspired by so many diverse people.

I began branching out and selling my jewelry in boutiques, galleries, and bead stores throughout the Pacific Northwest.

I have been a finalist in Swarovski Elements Jewelry Making Contest as well as Bead Dreams, which is the contest at the largest consumer bead show in the world. My work has also been featured in Beadwork magazine, one of the top publications in the world of beaded jewelry!

Now I'm trying to reach fellow lovers of sparkly things through the internet and my Etsy shop. I chose the name "Colorway" because I think it's a beautiful word that represents not only my obvious love of color, but also evokes the feeling of being on an unfolding path of color and light where the journey matters more than the destination.

When I am not working on Colorway, I wear several different hats...certified personal trainer, PE teacher at Southern Oregon University, front desk manager of a small fitness center, web writer (both under my own name and as a "ghost"). I hold a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration.

I hope you find something you love in my shop. I welcome custom orders and really enjoy working with people to make them special pieces of jewelry that are exactly what they are looking for. Feel free to convo me on Etsy or email me at Mae [!at] ColorwayJewelry.com.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

All orders come in simple yet elegant gift wrap with slate-grey tissue paper and natural hemp cord.

Care instructions

I take pride in making jewelry that can stand up to continued daily wear. Unless otherwise specified, all jewelry can be safely washed with warm water and a mild dish soap; metals can be gently polished with a polishing cloth to restore luster. I do not recommend any kind of metal dip cleaners, as they will remove the hand-oxidation I apply to many of my pieces to give them a weathered, vintage look.
