I have been involved in crafts from a very young age. My maternal grandmother did just about everything involving yarn and crafts. I remember as a child she would walk around her home with a tatting shuttle and string. Just working her hands and creating beautiful items. She embroidered, did crewel work, knitted, crocheted tatted, felt work, beading, anything crafty, she was doing it. My mom says the craft gene skipped her and landed on me. I pick it up quickly and I am not sure when I first started to knit or crochet.

I have worked in the manufacturing and retail industry since I graduated high school back in the late 70's. Couple years ago I approached my husband and let him know that I did not want to be doing what I was doing when he retired in a few years and so we needed to start my business as a LYS now so it can be well on its way before then. He supported me then and still does now and my dream of having my own yarn shop happened November 21, 2015. I am very happy with how my shop has grown and the many friends I have made in just a short period of time.

I belong to our local chamber and I received Small Business of the year within 6 months of being opened. I was floored. Never thought I would be considered since I had just opened. But I do support the community in many ways and my doors are always open to anyone just wanting to come in a sit awhile. I offer a place of relaxation and escape. I never turn anyone away. I have learned that a good listener is someone who just listens. Most people just want to say what they need to and move on. I allow them to do that. I have great respect for my customers and they know they can come to me and I will help where I can.
