Very easy to work with and she checks the shipping on larger items so you don't pay more than necessary. Great great great customer service as well. I will be buying more things from her because I know I can trust her!

About

Passion for lavender, herbal scents, garden crafts.

My new shop, Lavenderforlove (formerly LaMaindeLavalle) grew from my ever increasing passion for my herb garden. My first plantings were the culinary herbs I love to cook with. For new shrubbery I decided lavender and grasses would be a welcome change to the rhododendrons, junipers and poorly sheared specimens that were pervading my Queens NYC neighborhood. Throughout the middle ages the cloistered gardens of abbeys contained many herbs including lavender. It was used in practical ways, and was also associated with love. . . . .
Every spring I added new lavender cuttings. Soon I was harvesting armloads and handfuls of English lavender, mint and thyme. It was a joy to bring the scents that reminded me of open air markets in southern France into my own home. My harvesting filled several brown paper lunch bags and carefully cleaned jars with herbs collected in the kitchen. It was time to create a "still room."
In Victorian times the lady of the house would set aside an area or room to use for drying and storing herbs--a not too sunny, warm and dry place with good ventilation. The herbs had many uses such as creating sachets for linen closets and drawers. I decided to convert my bedroom closet into a still room. I painted the walls and shelves blue and cream. I hung bunches of freshly picked lavender and mint on hangers to dry. I purchased old blue glass Ball jars (from an Etsy seller) and filled them with lavender, marigold petals, white lilacs, grape hyacinth and more.
Voila. Sachets were next. The drawstring purse sachets were all hand made by me. As a purveyor of vintage clothing and accessories I found a lovely cache of ladies handkerchiefs. These light cotton daintily designed squares make the perfect container for the aromatic English lavender. Each sachet is unique. Some are crocheted, some are lacey, others have floral prints or embroidery. I am offering these sachets with or without my homegrown Lavender. I can also offer a blend of lavender,
and imported dried roses from Bulgaria and India.
My dream is to have a rose garden for harvesting and a copper still for making rose water and lavender water.
