Wishing You Joy in the Wearing
It's about the touch of hand...love and respect of materials, function, color, harmony, surprise. LaTouchables began as a way for me to express myself with tools I have used since a child in the American Midwest: a brain and two hands.
I go into my studio--my theater, every day. Sometimes I tea-stain or embellish material, other times I sit and hand stitch, or sit at the machine. Usually I listen to music. In my mind's eye, my grandmothers are sitting with me, their eyes straying over my work. Their stories are running through my fingers.
A huge part of the pleasure of creating are the relationships I've developed with friends, fellow-makers, and customers around the world.
I've never stopped learning. At the moment I'm taking a weaving class, and some of those pieces will get made into bags and things.

Owner, Maker, Artist Cook Photographer
I am exploring soft sewn body adornment, accessories, and bags in my little studio in Southern Germany. My deepest desire is to make each piece so that it has a life of it's own, with an emotional effect.
Here are a few facts concerning my creative work and business:
I work from a little garden studio in our backyard, at my home between the woods, in a small town in Southern Germany. I do everything--design, source materials, cut, stitch, iron, iron some more, tear out, restitch, iron again, finish, photograph, sell, lovingly package, paperwork, ride my bike to the post office with the little box containing a giftwrapped handmade bag or necklace or other accessory, have a little conversation with the post mistress, stop at the market on the way back home, and start all over again with the next creation.
I make OOAK handmade things.
In my garden studio.
Some quick answers to essential questions:
***Above all, I am communicative and would love to hear from you!
***Note on Shipping
I always ship with a tracking number to ensure that your purchase arrives quickly and safely. The average time of arrival upon purchase is ten days, worldwide, and a week in Europe. I've adjusted my shipping rates to the new German standard rates which are remarkably low for international shipping.
***Unfortunately I'm not able to do custom orders at this time, however this is not written in stone, and I will occasionally do something as a custom.
***As a rule, I don't reserve items. It's first come, first serve.
(However, I practice the right to reserve an item upon individual consideration.)
***I am usually able to respond to emails or convos within 24 hours, the exception being after hours, on weekends or holidays.
***Your package will be shipped registered, with a tracking number. This is the safest and fastest way for me to ship to you.
"**An invoice will be included in your package.
***I always include a customs description of the contents of a package on the outside of the package, including the full price of the purchase, for destinations outside of Europe. This is according to the German Postal regulations.
Any questions? Just ask--I'm delighted to answer every convo.
Please read the full policy section for information regarding a purchase.
Accepted payment methods
If you do not have a PayPal account, it is still possible to pay with a credit card. Just choose the option 'PayPal' and then follow the 'pay by credit card' link.
Please be aware that any customs duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility.
Shipping is made on confirmation or receipt of payment.
If an order has not been paid for, the transaction will be cancelled.
I ship my products, upon receipt of payment, in a padded envelope or small box, to keep the weight and costs down.
Each item is securely wrapped to ensure safety during transit. Shipment is via German Priority Mail, registered, requiring a signature upon receipt, which could mean a trip to your post office should the package arrive when you are out (check for a slip in your mailbox notifying you that the package has arrived). I always ship registered, with no exception, as it is my, and your, only insurance that you get your package.
Orders are shipped within three to five days of payment. Within Europe shipping usually takes between two and ten working days, depending on the country. Outside Europe it could be as early as four days up to 14 working days (and longer, during the holiday season).
Shipping charges are set according to weight. I round off to the lowest denominator, and the price will fluctuate with time, given the fluctuating exchange rates, but I keep on top of that. My shipping fees are not inflated or puffered. I always ship to the advantage of the customer--customer first, is my policy.
***I cannot combine shipping on heavier bags, due to their weight.

Additional policies and FAQs
I have designed everything in my shop, from idea to end product, and every item is designed to last a long time. I spend hours on a bag or pouch, or piece of body adornment, inspired by the materials I use, and the desire to make a practical and beautiful object which appeals to you, the individual. I love what I do, and the work must reflect that. Take a look at my profile to read more about it!
