My inspiration from France
I am Elisabeth. I am fiber artist, painter, musician and occasionally art teacher. I was born and raised in beautiful France. I moved to the U.S in 2005 to study interior design.
I come from a creative, hardworking and talented family of artisans and designers. I have always been surrounded by materials such as wood, textiles and diverse tools as a child. I have always had an endless creative mind and I love to learn new skills. I remember playing with dolls as a little girl and stopping just to make doll furniture with wood scraps found at my house. Making things is in my genes.
I created my shop Labroucke in February 2015 and I specialize in weaving wall hangings and paintings.
I like to use natural fibers such as cotton, wool and alpaca. I like to incorporate gold leaf and brass leaf to my work. Some of my pieces have hand dyed elements. I like calm and natural colors. I prefer a lot of interesting texture.
I grew up surrounded by the beautiful nature of France and I like the idea of how nature freely develops. You never know which flower is going to grow and where. This is how I work too. I never know what I am going to end up with. I let my creativity do the work and voilà! Each piece is slowly made by hand, not one is exactly identical and they are all unique.
