About

With bees in the trees

Q: Why did you open an Etsy Shop?
A: I started my shop because I ran out of friends to give crochet items to. They only have so much closet space. I sell the pieces I make because of that and also to fund my habit.

Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I lost my only full sibling in 2003. I have three half siblings and six step siblings.

Q: Where do you live/craft?
A: I live in Olympia,WA and I have a craft room my husband calls "the pumpkin angel patch"

Q: How did you learn to craft?
A: I learned to craft from my grandmother and my mother. Both strong Native American women who instilled a lot of great creativity and who are still easily my inspiration.

Q: When did you start to crochet?
A: My grandmother started teaching me when I was 8 years old. She also taught my cousin Nichol (who you'll see in a lot of my photos) and my brother Matthew.

10 things to know about me:
1. I love wearing glasses even though most don't.
2. I love period romance books and the shows Downton Abbey/Sherlock/Doctor Who.
3. I love the bees, octopodes, and the color green.
4. I'm obsessed with trying new things almost to a fault.
5. I love to write and take PICTURES!
6. I’m a little OCD. I love thing that have their own place.
7. I’ve never made myself anything.. I always give/sell the items.
8. I love nature.
9. I love animals! Dogs, cats, hedgehogs, geckos (their so SOFT!)
10. I’m horribly allergic to Rabbits, Rats, Guniea Pigs, Ferrets…

A lot of what I do is inspired by nature. I grew up in the country and I love being outside almost as much as I like to make things. My dog Sookie isn't allowed in my crafting room which she takes exception to. So... feel for the poor darling! She dearly wants to be a part of these items! Cover them with her hair and/or slobber but alas.. I ixnayed that plan. I am a full time student trying to earn my degree in criminal justice degree.

After losing my younger brother when I was 18 years old, one of my favorite memories is running through the forest near the farm where I grew up. A lot of trees had fallen the past year due to a bevy of storms we’d had.

The trees had fallen over each other and formed a tunnel. A child sized tunnel of trees with vines growing through it. It was a place to sit and play. It was green, alive, and ours that summer. It was our nature made fort and our own personal oasis away from everything children need to get away from.

That is the kind of muse I draw my creativity from. Not just the idea of nature but that blissful happiness that comes from having something unique. I hope what I make gives you as much joy being your own personal treasure as it does while I'm creating it for you.
