Announcement   Thank you for visiting my shop! My current turnaround time is about 6 weeks. I will be closing my Halloween orders earlier this year to make sure there are no delivery problems. I love sewing for you!

Some of my photos, especially those of my Elsa Coronation Dress and Cape, have been stolen and are being illegally used on eBay, Facebook, dhgate.com, Alibaba, and AliExpress to sell cheap imitations of my designs. I always appreciate it if you alert me to where you have seen my photos on another website so that I can protect my work. All of my photographs are copyright protected and may not be used without my express written permission. Using someone else's copyrighted photographs is illegal under the U.S. Copyright Act at 17 U.S.C. 106 (http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#106).

I do offer discounts for large orders! For orders of 3 to 5 listings, use the code THANKYOU10 for 10% off, and for orders of 6 or more, use the code THANKYOU15 for 15% off! Military families can use the code MILITARY10 for 10% off.

Check out my newest and current designs at www.ladyherndon.com. You can also follow me on Twitter @LadyHerndon, where I always tweet my newest listings.

I am still working on new designs, so keep checking back! Some of the characters on my to-do list include John Smith, the Beast, and the last fairies from Pixie Hollow. Some well-known characters are being redesigned, including Mulan and Tiana. I have also opened a brand new section called My Middle-earth, which will include costumes from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies. There is always something exciting going on in the sewing room around here!

If you have an idea for a character not listed in my store yet, send me a message and let's plan it together!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you offer rush orders?
- All rush orders must be approved and may include a Rush Order Fee. The estimated shipping date can be found on your receipt, and the current turnaround time will be listed in the shop announcement.

Do you sew adult sizes?
- I am sorry, but no. I only sew my designs in children's sizes 2T to 10.

How do your designs fit?
- Sometimes costumes are made to fit loosely, as in a 7/8 size. Mine are made to fit like clothing, true to size. I recommend ordering a size up if you want to be able to enjoy them for years to come.

Why is your turnaround time so long? Why does it take even longer for larger orders of 3+ items?
- Quality takes time. I sew my designs with serged seams, topstitching, careful cutting and laying out, lots of ironing, edging of ribbons and fabrics, and lots of attention to detail. I also have to allow time to get the embroidery done and the specialty original fabric printed and delivered. Finally, I run my store completely by myself, and still live as a mother, wife, friend, and even church secretary. My inspiration for new designs come from these other sources, and they are important to me. I am honest about my turnaround time and work diligently to maintain it.
If I ask for 8-10 weeks to create one dress, I must allow additional time to create multiple dresses for a single order before shipping.

Do you have anything in stock, ready to ship?
- All of my designs are custom made for each order and to the measurements you send me, so I very rarely have anything in stock. Sometimes I do sell the costume pictured in the listing.

Do you sell patterns of your designs?
- No. To protect the integrity and creativity of my designs, I do not sell patterns of my designs, or my original fabric or embroidery designs.

About

Clothing and Costumes for the Dreams of Children

After living and teaching overseas for three years, my family moved back to Colorado and settled down closer to family and friends for awhile. It was the perfect time to set up an Etsy shop and see what happened. Well, within a year I had found my niche, and LadyHerndon has been growing ever since!
I run LadyHerndon completely independently, from researching and designing each pattern, purchasing the supplies, washing, drying and ironing the fabric, cutting and sewing each costume, photographing and listing the designs, and running every section of the Etsy shop. You can see my four lovely children beginning their modeling career in my shop, as well as their friends and some guest models. My kids absolutely love pretending to be a new character every time I finish a new design!
While I am always happy to consider new designs, I will usually only agree to a new custom order if it is a design that I can offer regularly in my shop, rather than a one-off. My ultimate goal is to offer a design for each Disney main character from their classic films, so I am constantly filling my shop sections with new listings throughout the year.
My most popular items tend to follow the trends of Disney film releases, including Rapunzel/Flynn Rider, Merida, Anna and Elsa, and most recently, Aladdin. My busiest time is late summer/early fall in preparation for Halloween, so I always recommend planning super early.
I sew every design with the same care and love that I would for my own children's clothes, so my turnaround time might seem long! But quality is worth a little extra time, in my opinion.
It is my absolute pleasure to sew for you and make your children happy, so I love seeing photos of your kids wearing my designs!

Thank you and Welcome to LadyHerndon!

I was taught to sew by two generations of women. Always needing to create in some way, my imagination never stops dreaming while my fingers are busy. My husband, my children, and my Lord God keep me inspired, challenged, and full of joy.

Welcome to my Etsy store! I have been sewing since I was a little girl and love creating outfits for my children, but I have only been selling my designs on Etsy since March 2011. I love being a part of such a creative community.

Please contact me if you have any questions about my listings, require additional measurements or photos, or wish to discuss a custom order.

Please DO NOT contact me to request donations for any reason (review, photography, give-away, etc.) as this is a violation of the Etsy Terms of Service:

Conversations

Conversations (also called "Convos") are your way to communicate privately with other Etsy members. Think of it like email just for Etsy. Conversations are primarily intended for communicating about transactions. Members may also use Conversations to build friendly relationships with one another, seek advice or discuss Etsy Team activities. Please use common sense when giving out personal information to others via Conversations.

-You must not use Conversations to send unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations or "spam."

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
LadyHerndon accepts Direct Checkout, Money Orders, Cashier's Checks, and payments made through PayPal, which allows you to pay directly from your PayPal account or with credit or debit cards. Paying with PayPal is quick, easy, and safe! If you do not have a PayPal account, you will be instructed on how to pay when you check out through the PayPal website. As per Etsy's policies, payment is expected within three (3) days of checkout. I will send a reminder invoice to you on the second day; if payment is not received in within the 3-day time period, then I will cancel your order and re-list the item.
Shipping
Every item I ship will be placed in a plastic bag and shipped in a padded mailing envelope or a box, so they arrive on your doorstep in perfect condition.

In stock items will be shipped within 1-3 business days, and Custom Orders will be shipped according to the stated production timeline. I ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEx to your PayPal address. If you would like the item sent to someone else, please convo me with the name and address, and let me know if you would like me to send a note along with the package. I'm happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases.

I recommend purchasing shipping insurance so you may try to get reimbursed by the USPS should something happen to your package in transit.

I am happy to ship internationally, but please note that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred, and shipping times cannot be confirmed due to the unpredictability of international shipping. Again, the buyer is responsible for any additional fees that may be charged at customs. Also, according to Etsy's policies, I will not mark an order as a "gift" to avoid customs fees. The buyer accepts responsibility for any delays or fees imposed by customs.
Refunds and Exchanges
Your satisfaction is very important to me! Please contact me if you are in any way unsatisfied with your order. Finished items may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund or store credit. I will refund shipping charges only on defective items. The item must be returned in the condition in which you received it (e.g. in re-listable condition—unused, unworn, unwashed, with no cigarette or other odors, alterations, etc.). I will not give refunds for items that have not been returned to me.

Custom orders are available on most of my items. Just convo me with your specifics and I will let you know what is available. Items will be handmade with fabrics in varying designs but similar color schemes (for example, the My Fairy Tale collection). Creation of custom orders will not begin until the payment has cleared. The final fit of custom orders is dependent upon the measurements you send me, so taking accurate measurements before purchasing is vital. All sales are final on custom orders.

You must notify me prior to returning an item so that it will not be returned to you. Please e-mail or convo me to discuss any returns/repairs/refunds/etc.
Additional policies and FAQs
All pieces are created by hand, so no two items are identical. Please allow for slight variations from the photos.
