Welcome to our shop. Enjoy our Honey and our slow crafted herbal offerings to support your health and wellness.

We produce pure, raw honey from our hives in Newark, NY and Palermo, NY. Raw honey still contains vitamins, amino acids, and pollen. We extract and bottle all of our honey ourselves. We are a small family operation and we are Certified Naturally Grown. This means we are committed to managing our hives organically. We do not use our hives to pollinate commercial crops and this means less pesticide, fungicide, and herbicide exposure for our bees, and these poisons are not carried back to the hive to be in your honey, wax, and propolis. We harvest our honey seasonally – spring, summer, and fall – to capture the distinct floral flavors and aromas that are representative the native trees and wildflowers in our area.
I handcraft our botanical offerings. I grow and wildcraft many of the plants I use. Others I need to source, and I use organic plants from reputable sources. As a Registered Nurse I believe we should all be our own best health advocate. I truly believe plants are a very real option we can all use to support our health and wellness. The more herbal education I complete, the more I believe in this path. Without our health, we have nothing.
All raw honey is fresh from the beehive and will granulate-it will thicken and appear cloudy- in time. This is a natural process, and it does not mean the honey has spoiled- honey does not spoil! Simply heat the container of honey in a hot pot of water to re-liquify. Do not heat it over 100 degrees to prevent the loss of the nutritional benefits. I like to turn my oven light on (just the light, NOT the oven) and sit my jars in the oven for a few days. I put a thermometer in my oven and with just the light on it stays at 90 degrees. When you purchase honey from us at Lake Effect Honey you are getting honey from local trees and flowers as well as buying from and supporting local beekeepers. Know your beekeepers!
