Professional quality stationery, with a very personal touch.

Invited by LamaWorks started in 2008 after my wedding left mewith a creative void. If you look through the sold items you'll see that the shop started with knit products before it landed in invitations. Sometimes it takes awhile to find where your true niche is.

In 2009, I took the plunge and quit my day job in biomedical engineering to work on the shop full time. Bio-what? Yep, you didn't expect your wedding invitation designer to have a masters degree in biomedical engineering did you? Lucky for you that means I am creative, a whiz with software and pay attention to very minute details.

I opened up my studio space in Quincy, Illinois in 2013 and enjoy having that space, but I absolutely love that I can still enjoy working out of my home office while raising three boys. Jake is 4 and is an excellent packing peanut mover. Logan is 2 and is always there to give me smile when it's needed. Evan was just born in August and is always there for a good baby snuggle.

What's with the name you ask? LamaWorks is a mash up of my name - LAura MAys. Now you know!

I am excited about the future of LamaWorks. I appreciate your business, your help in promoting what I do and hope to have many great things to come this year.

Thanks for shopping at Invited by LamaWorks! I believe that every invitation deserves to be as custom as your wedding is. I personally strive to provide you with high quality and unique hand made items. When you shop with Invited by LamaWorks you are working directly with the store owner, Laura Mays.

I work both from home and out of my studio space in Quincy, IL. I am a mom to 3 small boys. I am creative and love having the freedom to stay home with my children or bring them to work with me while still working in a business I truly enjoy.

Below you'll find more information on how to order and some of my most frequently asked questions. Let me know if you have questions of your own!

1. PURCHASE DEPOSIT - Purchase this $100 deposit listing by clicking “Add to Cart” and complete checkout. Your deposit and shipping will be applied towards your final balance.

As you check out with your deposit you'll see a box where you can enter some notes. In that box let me know:
a. how many you need
b. when you need them by
c. any colors you'd like to change
d. any pieces you want to take out or add in
e. if you'd like to purchase them assembled (I tape together, you stuff, seal and send) or a DIY kit (I print and cut everything, you tape it together)
f. if you need to drastically change the price to fit your budget, let me know what your ideal budget would be and what parts of the invitation you absolutely must have (i.e. invite, RSVP, pocket, etc.)

After your deposit, I'll draft a sketch of your design with any changes that you are making to the design and we'll talk about a timeline. Deposits are refundable up until proofing begins OR paper is ordered.

2. PAYMENT SCHEDULE - I'll need a second payment that will get you to 50% of your order before I order paper. Most of my brides choose to do this shortly after a deposit is in so that paper arrives in a timely manner, but if you have time and need to spread payments out, I can do that as well, just know that paper takes about 7-10 days to ship and will not be ordered until you reach a total deposit of 50%.

3. WORDING - As soon as your initial deposit is in and we confirm the details of both your order and payment schedule you can send your wording in either via email or Etsy.

4. PROOF REVIEW - Upon receiving your deposit and wording, proofs will be carefully designed and then sent to you within 2 business days. Nothing is printed until I have your final proof approval. We'll continue to work on your design until it is perfect - please expect this to take about 1-2 weeks. The more organized you are with your wording, the faster it usually goes.

5. PRINTING - Once I have your approval, printing will begin. Printing takes 1-2 weeks. {Rush orders are available for an additional 15% plus the cost of rush shipping the paper in}

6. FINAL PAYMENT - Your remaining balance plus shipping is due before your invitations ship out.

7. SHIPPING - All orders are insured and ship Priority Mail, which takes 2-3 business days domestically and 10-15 business days internationally. You will receive tracking information as soon as it ships. Expedited shipping is available if needed.

*Standard orders take about 4-6 weeks.

♥ WHAT IS YOUR PRINTING PROCESS?

I use color laser printers for printing all of my products at this time. I have gained approval from Etsy to use an outside printer for some of my orders. I acknowledge that some of my orders are better suited for printers that are larger, faster and more accurate than mine is.

I do also outsource digital gold, digital silver, thermography, letterpress, embossing and foil orders.

♥ CAN I GET PRINTED PROOFS?

If you would like to request a physical proof of your invitation to look at in person prior to receiving the full order, you will be charged an additional $25. Some of my invitations are printed in house, others use an outside printer - either way it may take up to 2 weeks for your proof to ship.

Why do I charge for proofs? Printing invitations by hand isn't easy and require a lot of time to get the colors calibrated just so and my time is valuable to me. On average it takes me about an hour to make one single invitation to send out. Those settings change from day to day depending on the weather so even when I go to print your full order, I have to go through that process all over again. Of course it costs less to print 50 invitations, so those labor fees are already built into your invitation price.

If your invitation is being printed by my outside printer I can't order just a single invite I have to order 10, so there the $25 fee helps me to cover the cost of that purchase.

♥ HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?

I try to ship most orders out about 4-6 weeks after your deposit has been received. During my peak season (February - September) turnaround time may be closer to 6 weeks, so please allow for adequate production time.

The exact timing depends both on how organized you are, how promptly you look at proofs as well as my current print schedule. In general it takes 1-2 weeks to complete your design, 2 weeks to mail out a proof, and 2 weeks to print and mail out your completed order.

♥ CAN YOU DESIGN ME SOMETHING TOTALLY CUSTOM?

Custom orders are always welcome! Any invitation design that I determine to be significantly different than an already listed invitation (total layout redesign) will be charged a custom design. That fee is an hourly rate that will be assessed on a per project basis. Changes in colors, fonts, graphics or the addition of additional information cards are NOT custom work.

For custom designs I do require a $250 deposit before I begin detailed design work.

This is a very detailed process - so please be prepared to be very thorough and specific in what you want and what. I really need to see pictures of other designs that you like - fonts, colors, style, design - to get a good custom design. Telling us you want something that is "pretty, romantic and pink" isn't enough information. Custom designs aren't for everyone, so if you aren't detail oriented, I would suggest working with designs that I already have for sale.

♥ DO YOU PRINT GUESTS ADDRESSES?

Yes! I charge an additional $0.25 per invite to print your addresses.

In order to print them I need them in an Excel file with each line of the address in a separate column. Everything will appear on your envelope EXACTLY as you have typed them to please, please, please double and triple check your list for spelling errors! You can download a template to use here:

♥ HOW MANY REVISIONS DO I GET?

I try not to limit the number of revisions I make to your invitations. I know that things can look very different from the sample once you get your actual information on it, however I do have limits. If you are getting close to what I feel is unreasonable changes (usually 6-7 drafts), I may let you know that I will have to start charging a $10 fee to make any further revisions. Please look over your info carefully before sending to it us to ensure it is correct. This will save you a great deal of time in terms of waiting for revisions that could have easily been avoided. Any major revisions to the entire suite or completely redoing the wording on one of the poster invites may result in a revision charge depending on how difficult the change will be. You will be told of any charges before the changes are made.

♥ WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHANGE MY MIND?

For all wedding invitation orders that are not printed at my studio - colors, sizes and quantities can be amended up until the point that I order your your printed set.

For all wedding invitations, programs, menus, place cards, etc that are printed at my studio, colors, quantity and sizes cannot be changed after paper is ordered. I will let you know ahead of time if this pertains to your order.

♥ CAN I GET EXTRA INVITATIONS AFTER YOU PRINT?

Don't let your invitations bust your budget! I recommend including at least 10-15 more invitations in your order than you think you need! It is surprising how many requests I get for just 5-10 more invitations a month after I send an order out. While this doesn't seem like a large request I don't always have the paper on hand and ordering paper and printing in small quantities is much more expensive for us. If you need to order extras you will have a $35 set up fee plus higher costs per invite so please plan your guest list before you order with us!

♥ CAN YOU RUSH AN ORDER? - SAVE THE DATES AND INVITES

Rush orders are defined as any order that needs to get to you faster than 4 WEEKS. I simply can't get orders out any faster than without working more than my standard business hours and without rush shipping on your paper delivery. Any order that needs to be out in less than 4 weeks from the purchase date will be charged:
- An additional 15% rush order fee or $25, whichever value is greater.
- Charges associated with rush shipping the supplies to us. This varies by order but averages around $30-$50.

Placing a rush order is means that your order is on the top of my priority list for design and printing. It does not mean that I will return your email any time day or night, but you will be first on my list to contact during my business hours. Your order will be finished in less than 4 weeks ONLY IF you are prompt in replying to messages and have all of your invitation details to us in a very timely manner. Delays in message replies, proof approving or considerable changes to your designs will result in delayed shipment.

It takes time for us not only to design your wedding day accessories, but also to order the paper and print. Any wedding day order that is started less than ONE MONTH before the event date will need to be rushed in order to get it out the door on time. Any order that needs to be out in less than 4 weeks from the purchase date will be charged:
- An additional 15% rush order fee or $25, whichever value is greater.
- Charges associated with rush shipping the supplies to us. This varies by order but averages around $30-$50

*Note - this fee does not apply to orders of table numbers only since those are not usually custom designs.

I have licensing restrictions on both my fonts and graphics that prohibit us from selling you any digital recreations of my products. This also includes any custom text that you would like to use for logos or DIY projects. Sorry!

Printed colors may vary from what you see in your digital proofs on your computer screen. I make every effort to ensure the closest color match to paper within your order. When there is time I also like to send out hard copies of your design as well as other color options for you to approve. If you decline a hard copy, I am no longer responsible for any color variations that you may not be happy with.

♥ DO YOU SHIP OUTSIDE OF THE US?

Yes! Please be aware that you may be responsible for any customs fees that your country may charge. It is up to you to look into these fees ahead of time as they do vary by country. I will NOT falsify customs forms in any way to reduce your customs fees.

Most samples in my store will ship within 1-3 business days after payment via USPS first class mail. Those that are not in stock will ship within 2-3 weeks. When you check out - the estimated shipping time will be displayed before you purchase. If a sample you purchased is not in stock I will contact you with an estimated ship date.

I ship all of my products through USPS. What method I use depends on the final weight of your box. When you check out you will get different options to choose from. All orders within the US to come with tracking information.

All orders valued over $100 do also come with shipping insurance so if anything is damaged, please take pictures of your box and contact us as soon as you can!

♥ ORDERS OUTSIDE OF THE US

I love my international customers, but there are a few things that you need to be aware of!

Please be aware that you may be responsible for any customs fees that your country may charge. It is up to you to look into these fees ahead of time. I will NOT falsify customs forms in any way to reduce your customs fees.

Most orders will ship with USPS Priority (6-10 day) or Express (3-5 day) mail. Both of these options do come with tracking information. For some orders I can also ship first class, but there is no tracking information and no guaranteed delivery time frame.

** Customs!! Please understand that customs delays are VERY common for certain countries! I specifically have noticed significant delays in the UK of late. It can take up to SIX weeks for your box to clear customs. I recommend following your tracking information carefully and contact your parcel force or customs office as soon as you see it has entered customs. You may be able to pay any additional customs fees you have over the phone or online to expedite the customs process.

I do the best I can to help you through the shipping process, but please be understanding that once it has left the US, I have no power to track it down and it is solely in the hands your country's postal service.
Refunds and Exchanges
I am sure that you will love the item that you receive, and I do everything I can to make you comfortable during the ordering process. A wedding is a big deal and you are trusting us with one of the most important pieces.

Due to the nature of custom orders, refunds of completed products are not available so please proof carefully! Spell check is not reliable and I am not responsible for any spelling or grammatical errors that are not caught! I feel that it is not my right to question how you would like to word something on your invitation - it is after all yours - so please read through each piece carefully!

If you change or cancel your order before it has been printed, you may be responsible for paper restocking and design fees. These fees will be assessed on an individual basis.

If you change or cancel your order after invitations have been printed, but before they are shipped out, you are still responsible for final payment on the design since all design, printing and assembly work will have been completed at this time.

What you see on the final proof that you approve is what goes to print. However, if a mistake is made on my end and spelling differs from the final proof that you approved I will happily correct the error at no cost to you and make sure that it happens as fast as possible.

Once a proof has been approved through the proof approval form any revisions, error corrections and/or preference changes after this approval will be deemed “new work” and invoiced in addition to this project’s fees.

How do I place an order for custom invitations, save the dates or wedding day paper?

Before you start - if you have any questions regarding pricing or changes to the design ask first!

Once you are ready to go:
1. PURCHASE DEPOSIT - you'll see either a $50 or $100 in every listing. This amount plus shipping will be applied to your final balance

I don't have that much time, is there anything that would speed the process up?

If you need to get your order faster than the timeline stated above, I do offer rush orders. Rush orders will incur 2 additional fees:

1. An additional 15% or $25, whichever is greater

2. Charges associated with rush shipping the paper in. This varies from about $30-$100 depending on the speed of shipping. I will give you options before I order

What type of printer do you use?

I print most of my orders in my studio using a digital laser printer.

I do also have an outside printer that I can use for:
- digital metallic gold
- digital metallic silver
- letterpress
- thermography
- embossing
- debossing

Custom and personalized orders

Yes! Printed proofs are an additional $25 and take about 2 weeks to arrive.

Can I get a digital design rather than printed?

I am incredibly picky about how my orders are printed and I value the end product, so I do not sell digital files.

Can you print my guests addresses?

Yes! Guests addresses are an additional $0.25 per invitation.

In order to print them, I will need your addresses in Excel, with each line of the addresses in the column, so please combine city, state and zip code together into one cell.

Everything will appear on your envelope exactly as you have typed them so please double and triple check your list for spelling errors.
