The way all the creative items started
For as long as I can remember I have always been found doing something creative. From making woven dish clothes, writing poetry, drawing, building furniture with my dad, to now using the magic of lasers to create items.
Creativity has always been in my blood, I can be seen writing down ideas on napkins, talking my way thru a project while making dinner, or even while sleeping.
2020 arrives and so does the Corona Virus to my home state of Michigan. I was working in the automotive production industry, when suddenly everything was ripped out from under us. My husband knows I need to always keep my mind busy. So he saw an advertisement for a laser, he knew I loved to use my Cricut to create items. That is when he purchased for me, my first laser. Come to find out it would be the first of MANY!
Did the creative juices start to flow, I started to learn what I enjoyed, what finishing I liked to do. Stains are my jam!! Seeing the way the stains can transform a wooden project is just magical! Don't get me wrong I LOVE paint, I LOVE engraving, designing, I love it all. You put me in the stain aisle and I will be there for HOURS.
Now that you know how I started with making Landis Custom Designs, now let me explain to you how I got into the wedding industry. When I married my husband, I was married into a DJ business. He loves music, I loved creating the set up, finding lights to fill an area, ect. After 13 years of that we hung up our mics, in 13 years you LEARN a lot about weddings. From the Unity ceremonies to reception time, the one thing we noticed was that the same Unity ceremony items were being used. To be able to include everyone in the family, your vows, or even the parents. That is how the Unity Puzzles were started.
I don't just do Unity puzzles, there are so many more items that I make!! I am excited to create more amazing items!
