Sit and Stitch
As a mom of six I have often stolen time, many times well after midnight, to make things. Sometimes hand-smocked dresses for my daughters, costumes, stuffed animals, cross-stitch pictures, quilts, and embroidery. The house was quiet and less sleep was a worthwhile price to pay for the satisfaction of making things with my hands.
Fast forward and I am still a mom of six and now a grandma of seven and looking at a soon-to-be empty nest and I am still stealing time to create as I seem just as busy now as ever. Now however I am spending more daylight hours creating also. I honed my skills at each of these pursuits over the years and became rather adept at handwork - my first love in the hobby world. I will never get rich at this as hand embroidery is possibly the slowest way to make money and yet for me it is the most satisfying. It is the slow pace and attention to detail that I love.
I have won blue ribbons at our State fair in both quilting and hand embroidery giving me the confidence to go forth and design and sell my wares. I hope you too find hand embroidery something worthwhile and find something to brighten your day here in my little shop.
