    Origins of Laurel Creek

The name "Laurel Creek Boutique" comes from my favorite backpacking trail - Flat Laurel Creek in the mountains of North Carolina. It's the very first place I went backpacking and, to me, it's one of the most beautiful places in the NC mountains.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved to create. This started with storytelling as soon as I was able to string words together. I'd be strapped into my car seat, riding along down the street, hollering out a disjointed story that I'm sure my parents had no way of actually understanding (they were good sports about it, though). When I learned to write, I started writing these stories down. They weren't very good at first, but the more I read and wrote, the better they got, and my love for the craft grew and grew.

While writing is my first passion, it's not the only thing I love. When I adopted Petyr, my first rattie, I discovered the wonderful world of sewing hammocks! It wasn't long before Petyr (and his two rattie friends) had more comfy cozy beds than they would ever use, and so I started this shop.

My shop has come a long way from where it started - while I still make hammocks for small critters, I also make martingale collars for greyhounds and crocheted blankets for humans!
