About

Future relics

Laurel Hill Jewelry is inspired by the form and function of historical cultural adornment, the universal shapes and symbols that we recognize as significant. Pieces are handmade in the mountains of western Montana using traditional metalworking techniques with a focus on sustainability.

Born and raised in the South, designer Laurel Hill has almost always been a jewelry-maker. After several lengthy cross-country trips in a converted school bus, she's probably going to stay put in Montana for quite some time as she finds endless inspiration in the surrounding landscape. While not in the studio, she’s likely running the local trails, eating jalapeno pizza with her husband, or tending to two cats, one dog, and three chickens.

Laurel believes in the transformative quality of jewelry, its ability to elevate a mood (or your daily uniform of jeans and a tee). Her pieces seek to create a meaningful bond with you, the wearer.

    Casting

My indispensable casting guy makes molds and casts from pieces that I carve from wax (plus some original metal pieces). Rough casts are sent back to the studio where we refine and polish them.

When she's not making her own awesome jewelry or taking gorgeous pictures or guiding people through the mountains of Alaska, Emily helps me saw, file, and polish brass pieces.

Frequently asked questions

Why does fabrication take up to three weeks?

It almost never takes that long, but I want you to be aware of the possibility in case I get slammed or castings have to be redone. Typical turnaround is a few days up to two weeks. Because Laurel Hill Jewelry is a small company (like, very small), I don't keep all inventory on hand at all times. I feel our energy and resources are best focused on the present, while taking up minimal space and creating minimal waste. I always have varied inventory on hand, and some pieces have a very quick turnaround time, so if you need something immediately, please get in touch! I'm happy to help.
