The Beginning...

My husband Scott adores Etsy but will never tell. It's his “dirty" little secret. Ya know dirt, clay, pottery...ha! I know.

I'm not the comedian in the relationship. I'm the potter, and my husband (gifted in comedy) is IN LOVE with Etsy. Here's why:

I opened LaurenBauschOriginal to grow a larger audience. My husband and I were doing craft festivals, so I wanted to find more art shows and possibly more galleries for my pottery.
Etsy provided me a direct way to sell orders to out of town clients I met at these events. Etsy opened other doors as well.

I had been doing craft fairs and other small shows since 2006 with my father as my greatest supporter and helping hand. I was just a college art student with too much pottery and wanted to make a little extra money.

My husband, Scott, owns a local heating and air business here in Macon, Georgia. Weather is fussy in the South, so business is good. Traveling to art shows, outdoor craft fairs, lugging my pottery, charming the ladies, etc., became overwhelming and exhausting for my hubby. He’s a busy man!

As I focused more on my Etsy shop, business started picking up. My husband fell in love. He fell hard. The pursuit of more out of town art festivals is no longer a business goal.

We limit our shows and events, so these feel like mini getaways. We have very loyal customers, and I love seeing friendly faces every year. I also attend a large ceramics invitational show and sale here in Georgia and still participate in galleries.

I am proud of my business and it's small, humble roots. Like a booth at a craft show, LaurenBauschOriginal is my own little gallery. I work from my home garage studio, and I imagine all of the places my pots will travel.

Each piece of Lauren Bausch Pottery is made by only two hands: mine. Scott helps me sand kiln shelves, cleans occasionally, but each step of the process of making pottery is a one woman operation.

I make quality, hand-crafted pottery that's sturdy and durable for daily use. I enjoy using an eclectic color palette to satisfy my painterly urges.

All glazes are lead free, and my pots are microwave and dishwasher safe.

Frequently asked questions
Are your pots dishwasher, microwave or oven safe?

Pottery can be both hand washed and placed in the dishwasher. Though pottery is dishwasher safe, hand washing is always preferred. I personally use the dishwasher for all of my pottery (my pieces and other artists' pots) unless it's a delicate piece. Be aware of how you load your pieces so they don't "clank" against other pots. Pottery is fragile.

Pottery is microwave safe.

Oven: Pottery is oven safe when placed in a cool oven. Pottery must heat up with the oven. Do not pre-heat. Do not place pottery in a hot oven. This will cause thermal shock, and your pottery will crack or shatter. Allow pottery to cool before placing it into cold water.

Are your pots food safe?

I only use food safe/ food approved glazes. These raw materials are fired to the temperature of maturation to ensure health and safety.
All glazes are 100% lead free.

Custom and personalized orders

My shop specialty is ready to ship pottery. All of the items in my shop are in stock and ready to ship. I often have pots in stock that I don't have listed in my shop. If there's something that you're interested in just contact me.
I take custom orders if I'm able to. It depends on my schedule and the project. Custom orders take at least 4 weeks for production: throwing or hand building, drying, firing cycles, glazing...

Gift wrapping and packaging

My number 1 goal is your gift arriving safely. I use plenty of bubble wrap and sturdy corrugated boxes to protect your pottery.

I've shipped out over 1500 pieces of pottery, and only a couple of times have pieces arrived broken. Usually the box arrives crushed when this happens. Orange fragile stickers are no help when this happens! It's rare, but pottery is fragile.

Gift Wrap: I am happy to help with your gift giving and celebrations! I have stationery on hand for nearly any occasion and also make handmade cards. Just let me know what message you need.
Your package arriving safely is top priority. It will always look professional, stationery is free of charge.
