Beauty in Everyday Things
Welcome to Maison Belle!
All of the items in my shop are handmade (by me) - except for the vintage, of course … and, some of that I revamp a bit.
When creating, I like to make use of reclaimed wood and other recycled elements whenever possible. My wood signs are hand painted and hand lettered without the use of stencils or vinyl, so each one is unique. I also design all of the graphics that I use in my projects, and the photography is all me, too.
I also have a passion for finding vintage things and using them in unusual ways. I could get lost in an antiques mall for hours on end…digging through every little box. It’s not necessarily the idea of “recycling” that drives me, but the beauty, and the craftsmanship of old pieces …some, you can “feel” the history of while holding in your hand. Recycling is just a happy side effect of resurrecting an old piece. An out of style glass dish can become a cute little soap dish, coin or paper clip bowl, and, if you really want to be fancy, a pet food bowl – suddenly a unique item that lends itself to many decorating styles. When vintage shopping, look beyond intended use ...and suddenly you'll see so many ways to use the simplest little thing.
